A lot of the commentary on a potential Supreme Court retirement seems to be based on a pre-Dobbs/pre-Trump mindset. On the right, the stakes really aren't as high any more. There is no Roe to overturn. They have a 6-3 court. And Trump prefers Alito & Thomas to the justices he himself appointed.

After Tennessee talks about efforts to preserve evidence in a "collaborate process," the judge responds: "Efforts are different than an order from the court." There is also discussion of separate fed'l litigation—of which Pike isn't a part—that does place requirements on Tenn Dep't of Correction.

Tennessee's response is that there is no pending execution, so, the court could give no relief in this case. The judge pushes back, asking the state if they can confirm there wouldn't be a new execution date set in the future, which the lawyer says he can't (essentially ending the argument, imho).

Especially now that ALL of your data is bought & sold across this entire nation. There's nothing stopping the scammers from using your data to just take your $$ instead of trying to scam you out of it. When Amazon/Walmart/etc can use your data to charge you more/less, it's the age of the scammer.

Yes, it is always possible that the Court will do something it hasn't done before. I just think there are good reasons why it hasn't wanted to, and still won't want to, open a Pandora's Box of having its docket swamped by red state vs. blue state political disputes where it has to play trial court.

But after Trump v. CASA, universal relief can only be granted by SCOTUS. I haven’t read the plaintiff states’ briefs, but my knee-jerk reaction is to just assume the worst.
