Coming up in a couple of days. Tyler and I both have show flyers in the art show portion of the event (which will stay up until some time in November) and of course we are gonna play. Music should start a little after 8pm. Should be a very cool evening.

A week away. I think @averysafecat.bsky.social and I are gonna have whole new levels of murk for this one. Will it be the murkiest Grand Banks set ever? Hard to say, but there will be primo murk regardless.

Really cool art show with a little music coming up on Friday, Oct. 2 at Infinite Repeats in Charlottesville. The show will feature graphic works (fliers, handbills, calendars ...) for shows at Tokyo Rose over the course of its existence, as well as photos and ephemera! This is going to be very cool!
Fyler for an art/music show at Infinite Repeats (1740 Broadway St.) in Charlottesville, Virginia, on Friday, Oct. 2. The band playing is Grand Banks and the show is titled "TOKYO ROSE - 295-ROSE/WEIRD SUSHI MUSIC. Collection graphic works, photos, fliers & ephemera from the Tokyo Rose. Show runs from 10/2 - 11/25." The background is white with all of the text and images in black. The only non-text feature is the old Tokyo Rose logo, which is a woman in black pants and a white shirt with her hands in her pockets walking away from the viewer whilst looking back at the over their left shoulder.

Next Radon Abatement show is coming up on Saturday, Oct. 17. We are playing with old friends & good musicians/band Ostinato, who apparently have a whole set of new songs! Who knows, maybe we will have a new song as well. Time will tell! Hope to see some of you there, should be a good time.
Image for a flyer for a show on Saturday, Oct. 17 in Charlottesville, Virginia, at Superfly Brewing Co. (943 Preston Ave.). The bands are Ostinato and Radon Abatement. Doors at 7:30 pm. $15 suggested donation. Flyer has a blue background with the text in yellow with other collaged elements, including yellow polka dots scattered here and there, a circle with a woman's head and shoulders visible inside of it with her hands to either side of her mouth to suggest she is announcing something, and a pair of gloved hands typing on a typewriter. In the top left is a little illustrated creature pointing at the bands with "show" written on a card on his chest.

Erin O has done another Black Circle Revolution radio show, and while I am admittedly very biased here, I feel safe saying that it rules. Definitely help if one likes weird punk/rock music of varied and excellent types. Many new records, many cool bands, a true delight: www.wtju.net/recent-shows...

Portland folks, tonight is the night to catch Added Dimensions in your city! Playing with the singular and very cool Collate as well as Byproxy (probably good as well!). I wish I could teleport out for this one, I am sure it will be a good time.

Next batch of these Added Dimensions shows (which Erin O is playing) are kicking off TONIGHT in Eugene, Oregon. Sick line-up of AD + Collate + Liquid Cross. All very good bands, and having seen Collate live once I wish I was getting to see them again. Should be a great night if one is around.

I am not sure what my life would be like if I had not discovered the joy of playing music through a decent amp at volume. Even cooler having a really great amp to play through at volume. It just never really gets old. ("at volume" is whatever I need it to be in the moment)

Music is a gift that keeps finding ways to give, thankfully. Generally the things I get out of it are myriad & endlessly strange & beautiful. Rarely will I get to say something like "Mr. Horribly Charred Infant from the Happy Flowers has purchased a tape," but today is such a day. Hot damn.

Hey this Added Dimensions tour is starting ... today! The band has made it to the west coast so tonight's show should be good to go. Playing with Neutrals, who are great, and a couple of other that are probably good too. If you are in or around San Francisco head on out.

On a jag of thinking of songs that bring me joy every time I hear them & in fact are things I put on pretty regularly simply to feel good. 100s of bands try to hit this sweet spot but most don't/can't. Not for everyone but man I love this band. Pure noise pop delight: www.youtube.com/watch?v=NlOO...

Hey, Erin O is hitting the west coast as part of the Added Dimensions touring crew. They are sounding sick live these days, I highly recommend going and checking them out! Playing w/ quite a few sick bands as well, including Collate, Neutrals, The Intima, Liquid Cross, etc. Catch 'em if you can!
Flyer for the band Added Dimensions listing their upcoming 2026 September shows on the West Coast. The shows are:

9/7 Sacramento at Kicksville Vinyl & Vintage

An even better run down of the kind of advice that I do think is actually helpful to someone who wants to play music and not "learn songs." Nothing wrong with learning songs of course, but there are ways of making music that don't require any of that kind of logic/thinking.

Sad to hear this news but quite a cool legacy to leave behind. Honestly this advice on playing guitar, and not sweating it too much beyond that, is about as good advice as any and is always a joy to listen to when it pops up. Most other advice will lead you astray hah hah.

Hey this show is on Monday! If you are in or around Charlottesville come on out. All of these musicians are great & very much uniquely themselves. There will not be a show quite like it in this town in some time. Truly good stuff. It will also be low key & easy on the ears volume-wise. A good time.

Maybe a social media app that is in any way healthy to use (if such a thing exists) will not, by nature, be particularly "successful" at the infinite growth/getting extraordinarily popular game. And maybe that is good. The ones that DO grow that way all become terrible eventually. Fuck it.

Don't have much to say today that isn't better left said by someone else. I will simply note that I am going to have band practice tonight and I am excited about it. It is quite something that I get to play with this particular group of people and I am eternally grateful for it for lots of reasons.

Fun video accompaniment to the Radon Abatement song "Broody," which is definitely a favorite of mine (silly to say as we don't have a ton of songs yet, but still). Really cool to see it in such dramatic settings hah hah (and so glad you enjoy it @rockettemorton.bsky.social).

Going to reshare this MRR radio show again for anyone who missed it the first time. a) it is really cool to see Radon Abatement continue to show up on playlists, and b) Erika E's shows are killer. She truly digs deep into the wilds to find stuff. Usually multiple (good) bands I have never heard of.

Next show at Visible Records set up by Erin O.: Age of Peace (Angie and Micah of Artificial Go/ROD in low key minimal mode) + Heavy Flow (Charlottesville based multi-instrumental duo, magical shit) + Devon Sproule (one of the best songwriters in Charlottesville). Monday, Aug. 24. Will be very good.

I hope the AI-slop video generators that a lot of people are sharing on other sites run their course as a thing people think are fun soon. Kind of depressing to see it so widely shared and treated like normal fun online stuff. (I am fun occasionally but not often these days lol, this stuff sucks.)
