Really cool art show with a little music coming up on Friday, Oct. 2 at Infinite Repeats in Charlottesville. The show will feature graphic works (fliers, handbills, calendars ...) for shows at Tokyo Rose over the course of its existence, as well as photos and ephemera! This is going to be very cool!

The band playing is Grand Banks and the show is titled "TOKYO ROSE - 295-ROSE/WEIRD SUSHI MUSIC. Collection graphic works, photos, fliers & ephemera from the Tokyo Rose. Show runs from 10/2 - 11/25." Next Radon Abatement show is coming up on Saturday, Oct. 17. We are playing with old friends & good musicians/band Ostinato, who apparently have a whole set of new songs! Who knows, maybe we will have a new song as well. Time will tell! Hope to see some of you there, should be a good time.
Image for a flyer for a show on Saturday, Oct. 17 in Charlottesville, Virginia, at Superfly Brewing Co. (943 Preston Ave.). The bands are Ostinato and Radon Abatement. Doors at 7:30 pm. $15 suggested donation. Flyer has a blue background with the text in yellow with other collaged elements, including yellow polka dots scattered here and there, a circle with a woman's head and shoulders visible inside of it with her hands to either side of her mouth to suggest she is announcing something, and a pair of gloved hands typing on a typewriter. In the top left is a little illustrated creature pointing at the bands with "show" written on a card on his chest.

Looks like the Radon Abatement tape release show will be on Friday, July 31, at Visible Records in Charlottesville, Virginia. Added Dimensions will also play and maybe more some more action as well, we will see. Excited about the show, excited about the tapes being out there in the world.
Photo of part of an art show at Infinite Repeats in Charlottesville, Virginia (it was a members' show displaying item people made in the shop). It displays a cassette with the risographed Radon Abatement tape artwork on it, which is a grid of dots in grey and pink overlaid in an offset fashion over each other with the nane of the band printed on it in the same colors. There are a set of 4 variations on the wall next to it (simple black and white, simple grey, a purple created by overlapping the two colors directly, and the standard offset pink/grey). Also in the display are an array of four polaroid pictures of the band members and an insert for the cassette, also risographed, which shows a small recreation of the four polaroids shrunk down to fit in the insert, which is folded in half to have the album credits on the other side (too small to read).

Radon Anatement tapes are mostly done but we have another batch to finish off. Likely shipping out in a couple of weeks or so. Been quite a bit of work as we did all the artwork ourselves, but also more fun than doing it some other way. Pretty damn pleased with them.
Image is a pile of tapes by the band Radon Abatement arranged in a grid. Half are grey and white and half are pink, grey, and white. The covers have the band name and a pattern of dots arrayed somewhat erratically across the rest of the covers.

It's pretty interesting to me just how varied the comparisons to other bands we get for Radon Abatement are. They're usually quite flattering. We're of course not as good as a lot of the bands people are suggest we remind them of a bit, but it's cool to see where people land.
An image of a chat from the radio show Burn it Down! with Nate K on WFMU. The chat is as follows (I am omitting names, as many of them are online handles that make no sense to me as to who they are):
"See, now, I wish this was my introduction to TSOL."
"This Radon Abatement has got all my best PIL senses buzzing. Fantastic."
"So good. Love the Sparks reference in the lyrics, too."

Some other comments too, but was posting this one for the ones about our band.

Erin and I finally got our tape cases up. Look forward to sticking a Radon Abatement tape in there when we finish them off (which should be soon I hope). I understand when people say “tapes? really?” but yeah, tapes. Cute little buddies that may or may not contain some great music.
Image is of two wall-hung cases for cassettes, one natural wood color and one painted sky blue. A number of cassettes from various bands are scattered throughout the cases.

Never sure what this day will bring, and usually am ok with it being low key. Today’s was spent happily enough working on final Radon Abatement mixes (or close enough) with my partner and two of my best friends. Many days are hard these days, but this one has been good. Hoping for more for us all.

An event happening tonight (2/6) in Charlottesville is this @teenbeat.bsky.social art/design show opening at Infinite Repeats! This should be very cool as of course Teenbeat Records has always had a singular and cool design bent to go along with the music. Should be a good time with good folks.
Image is a flyer for an art opening at Infinite Repeats in Charlottesville, Virginia (USA) on Friday, February 6. It is called "Teenbeat Grafika Exhibition" and is listed as Teenbeat 603 in their catalog. The image is four sets of circles alternately colored red and blue that get smaller as they move towards the center of the image. At a certain point the four sets intersect in the middle and make a grid-like pattern similar to an spirograph design. The text is in black.

Excellent show coming up this Saturday at Infinite Repeats in Charlottesville! Two members of Flin Flon are playing, which is exciting on its own, but of course Mark Robinson is known for much more than that (Unrest and Teenbeat Records for a couple). It will be an excellent night all around!

Excited to play a show tomorrow night. The third Radon Abatement show of the year. We've been working on stuff around the shows, hopefully we'll be able to share it not too far down the line. If you're around Charlottesville head on out. True Love Always & Added Dimensions are playing, which rules.

If you are in or near Philly on Oct. 4 you, too, could see this at U4 Fest. Added Dimensions will go on some time, not even sure when, but plenty of other good bands playing as well (partial to Marbled Eye & Artificial Go in particular). A pretty good way to spend a Saturday. E S G ...

Trying to clear out my email storage and stumbled on this old show flyer for the wonderful buy short-lived venue Satellite Ballroom in Charlottesville. Grand Banks went full-band-mode for this one with drums and sax added to the usual @averysafecat.bsky.social and I.
An old show flyer for the Satellite Ballroom music venue in Charlottesville, Virginia, on October 10, 2006, featuring the bands/musicians Wolf Eyes, John Wiess, and Grand Banks. The image is a black and white drawing of stylized fonts of the band names and other text.

Flyer for the next @radonabatement.bsky.social show. We are hopefully gonna have a couple new ones but who knows? Maybe we will just play one song for 40 minutes (they are all one song). Infinite Repeats is an artist-run and owned print shop started by Thomas Dean, who made the flyer. Good stuff.
Image of a flyer for a show at Infinite Repeats in Charlottesville, Virginia, on Saturday, December 14 at 7pm. The bands that will play are Snack Truck and Radon Abatement. No one turned away for lack of funds (likely donation would be $10). Image is a surreal/random collage of an arm coming out of an open door with a face in distress visible in the open doorway; a purple and black "vortex" looking swirl contained within a square field being held by the arm coming out of the door; an empty speech bubble typical to comics; a pair of disembodied pink lips with a fanning-out checkerboard design in black and white extending to the right of it. The other items are the text mentioned above.
