I had never imagine Higgs having a belly button. Are we sure he does?

Also as @averysafecat.bsky.social is my #1 guide to all things Higgs and the person I know who lives this reality most acutely I should see if he has a name for it. Like many things Higgs-related the name may never truly be knowable, but if anyone has words for it he may.

An amazing place to be for a while there. I most likely would not have stayed in Charlottesville if that place hadn't been there (and I ended up at that Union of a Man and a Woman/Panoply Academy Glee Club/Aerial M show). Certainly had a good time with you there of course.

Did not know about the video arcade! Cool! They really had a good run there, just a ton of great bands coming through for a number of years. We were lucky to have it while we did.

Excellent flyer here courtesy of Erin O

Grand Banks (myself & @averysafecat.bsky.social) will also play a set. We played there a number of times on the back end of Tokyo Rose's run, and may be one of the few bands that has kept playing for most of the time since, with a break here and there. Looking forward to playing very much.

Really cool art show with a little music coming up on Friday, Oct. 2 at Infinite Repeats in Charlottesville. The show will feature graphic works (fliers, handbills, calendars ...) for shows at Tokyo Rose over the course of its existence, as well as photos and ephemera! This is going to be very cool!

Next Radon Abatement show is coming up on Saturday, Oct. 17. We are playing with old friends & good musicians/band Ostinato, who apparently have a whole set of new songs! Who knows, maybe we will have a new song as well. Time will tell! Hope to see some of you there, should be a good time.

Image for a flyer for a show on Saturday, Oct. 17 in Charlottesville, Virginia, at Superfly Brewing Co. (943 Preston Ave.). The bands are Ostinato and Radon Abatement. Doors at 7:30 pm. $15 suggested donation. Flyer has a blue background with the text in yellow with other collaged elements, including yellow polka dots scattered here and there, a circle with a woman's head and shoulders visible inside of it with her hands to either side of her mouth to suggest she is announcing something, and a pair of gloved hands typing on a typewriter. In the top left is a little illustrated creature pointing at the bands with "show" written on a card on his chest.

Definitely "helps" that is. I will never not make a typo. Never.

Davis @davisqueue.bsky.social · 18/09/2026

You can click that link and the playlist and button to "play show" are right there. In an ideal world it would be easier to do radio shows all the time, but many things make that not so easy right now. Still, I will take what I can get as she does a damn good show.

Erin O has done another Black Circle Revolution radio show, and while I am admittedly very biased here, I feel safe saying that it rules. Definitely help if one likes weird punk/rock music of varied and excellent types. Many new records, many cool bands, a true delight: www.wtju.net/recent-shows...

Wish those shows were happening a little closer, like here hah hah (should be cool to see them I imagine). Hope it is a fun show.

Davis @davisqueue.bsky.social · 10/09/2026

Always cool to be working on something yourself! Hopefully they have a good time if they make it, but yeah also hope your performance art event goes well.

Davis @davisqueue.bsky.social · 10/09/2026

Good to know! Sounds like quite a bill (in my very biased opinion).

Davis @davisqueue.bsky.social · 10/09/2026

Portland folks, tonight is the night to catch Added Dimensions in your city! Playing with the singular and very cool Collate as well as Byproxy (probably good as well!). I wish I could teleport out for this one, I am sure it will be a good time.

Davis @davisqueue.bsky.social · 09/09/2026

Next batch of these Added Dimensions shows (which Erin O is playing) are kicking off TONIGHT in Eugene, Oregon. Sick line-up of AD + Collate + Liquid Cross. All very good bands, and having seen Collate live once I wish I was getting to see them again. Should be a great night if one is around.

Davis @davisqueue.bsky.social · 09/09/2026

I am not sure what my life would be like if I had not discovered the joy of playing music through a decent amp at volume. Even cooler having a really great amp to play through at volume. It just never really gets old. ("at volume" is whatever I need it to be in the moment)

I mean I am as much of a fan of improvisation as the next guy, but package delivery does not seem like the best vehicle for it

Davis @davisqueue.bsky.social · 07/09/2026

Tyler and I wore that out when it came out. Basically spent a couple of years trying to make Grand Banks sound like a numbers station lol

Music is a gift that keeps finding ways to give, thankfully. Generally the things I get out of it are myriad & endlessly strange & beautiful. Rarely will I get to say something like "Mr. Horribly Charred Infant from the Happy Flowers has purchased a tape," but today is such a day. Hot damn.

Davis @davisqueue.bsky.social · 05/09/2026

Hey this Added Dimensions tour is starting ... today! The band has made it to the west coast so tonight's show should be good to go. Playing with Neutrals, who are great, and a couple of other that are probably good too. If you are in or around San Francisco head on out.

Really enjoy that Graphic Violets record. Good stuff.

Hah not an association I would have made easily, but I will listen to Hex again sometime soon and see how it goes. Another fine album of course.

A true wonder all the way through

I have not. Will give it a listen. There are many worlds within that song.

I love the original Four Louies and this live version is great too. The second track in particular really hits as to why he ripped off the Branca cover for the release. A real joy to listen to.

On a jag of thinking of songs that bring me joy every time I hear them & in fact are things I put on pretty regularly simply to feel good. 100s of bands try to hit this sweet spot but most don't/can't. Not for everyone but man I love this band. Pure noise pop delight: www.youtube.com/watch?v=NlOO...

Not really a wrong choice. I just think of the styles crammed into this one song and find it to be wild every time. Will go listen to "Gasoline Dreams" now though.

Pandering a bit here but it is one of yours I imagine (for good reason). Any place and time that can create a piece of music as beautiful of this can't be all bad. www.youtube.com/watch?v=FvzN...

Perhaps a good embodiment of "in America this shit just happens sometimes and then everyone knows who you are." Actual teenagers, an actual all-time great song that somehow came outta nowhere to be a hit. Not sure I trust anyone who doesn't like this song: www.youtube.com/watch?v=bOCO...

Perhaps a little too "as American as applie pie" but also maybe a purer distillation of US teenage hopefullness (made by non-teenagers as most of these things are) than many such examples. It should be played on every radio station in the country but ... is not: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gy88...

Still sounds aspirational many years later. It is hard to top as a peak amalgamation of what American music, and whatever we consider the concept of identifying as the entity, can be: www.youtube.com/watch?v=lVeh...

Perhaps a bit too ubiquitous but also ubiquitous for a very good reason. I am not sure I have ever turned this song off when it has come across my path. The name of the band is earned, a self-fulfilling prophecy: www.youtube.com/watch?v=etvi...
