Or, on the other hand: Ruby, rather than being sidelined, asserts herself strongly; the romance between Rogue and the Doctor is rather delicately handled; and the whole ep runs with the idea of imposture and substitution- which is tied up neatly at the end. All this, and it is very, very funny.

Except that the whole episode is a character study, and a very well handled one. The plot is driven by the changes in Ruby’s character.

Higher Education in the UK is a bin fire placed carefully in the midst of a shitshow, which itself is lost on the barren burning wastes of managerial stupidity and government neglect. On the other hand, the first years are lovely. Really lovely.
