Exactly. It’s a total hobby for me, I do technical models/diagrams for my tile work and the photos balance that out. I shoot in monochrome, I consider it finding drawings in nature and architecture.

Thanks Mark! I would say the same for what I’ve seen of yours. Great technique all around, the drawings are amazing. I used to love drawing in graphite and consider my photos an extension of that.

Wow, this takes me back. I loved these books. Fantasized a lot about that junkyard hideout.

Thank you! I am grateful for clients that allow me to do projects like this. Most I cannot show but this one was published in Architectural Digest.

For this work project I collaged together Chinese landscape imagery (mainly Song dynasty) for a room sized tile mural based on the blue willow pattern. I placed every boat and tree and had a waterfall in the shower. We had a classically trained Chinese artist paint it and fired it to a soft blue.

That is my neighborhood and I take the B or C there. The northern part of Central Park is also nice (Harlem Meer, Conservatory Gardens). Further up is the overlooked Hispanic Society Museum and then, of course, the Cloisters. There is a lot to see way uptown! Let me know if you want to have tea.

Riverside Church is based very closely on Chartres. Also, St. John the Devine is blocks away. They were somewhat rival churches, both are fabulous.

Thanks Jimmy! First time in a while I had hauled out the D850, it has such dynamic range for a situation like this. I made only minimal edits. Quite something on a 4k monitor. Optics, man.

I like most architectural styles, but I’m designing in medieval mode now, and being in this place for a while is kinda perfect.

Thanks, Alina! It was a lot of fun working on a tripod again, working slow. A meditative process in a meditative space with noone around.
