Where is Trump's new America.gov getting its answers? Often it's from the government's well-established web portal, launched by Bill Clinton 26 years ago and maintained since by career federal workers. Credit where it's due.

Mark Zuckerberg is aware of the “pervert glasses” nickname
NBC story: Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg says he's aware some people are using the term "pervert glasses" to refer to his company's line of smart glasses and told NBC News chief tech analyst Joanna Stern that he plans a counteroffensive highlighting how Meta tries to deter secret recordings."I've seen the campaign," he said, referring to the nickname. "Companies like ours, we both need to substantively do the right things - which I think, in this case, we are - and we need to make sure that we're talking about it so that people know what we stand for."

Robotaxi emergency phone numbers found disconnected and unstaffed
Texas law requires autonomous vehicle companies to tell first responders how to reach them in emergencies. NBC News tested the numbers in all 17 published plans.

New from me: I tested the emergency phone number for companies developing AVs in Texas, and five of 17 didn't work.
NBC News article excerpt: Self-driving cars or trucks operating in Texas are supposed to have emergency phone numbers to call in case they go haywire. But in NBC News tests, some were unstaffed, disconnected or listed incorrectly.

Five of 17 companies that are working on self-driving cars or trucks in the state provided emergency numbers in their published “first responder interaction plans” that, when they were tested in late August, seemingly wouldn’t allow companies to immediately respond in emergencies.NBC News article excerpt: The five emergency lines failed in various ways. Two went to voicemail. A third rang without ever going to voicemail or anyone picking up. A fourth rang several times before a recorded message took over, saying: “I’m sorry, the person you are trying to reach has a voicemail box that has not been set up yet. Please try your call again later. Goodbye.” And on the fifth, a recorded message said: “Your call cannot be completed as dialed.”
