Why can't modern games shut up?

Playing Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, and while I enjoy the game in general, it does not give me a minute of silence. There is constantly, and I mean really constantly, someone talking. Either the protagonist or one of the companions. Not even something interesting, just what I see, what I do or what I have to do. "Hurry", "Be careful", "This looks interesting", ...

It got so bad in the later chapters I had to mute it in the menu.

Why can't the game give me a minute to enjoy the scenery or let the world speak for itself. Do people really enjoy this?
