Stunned to get this news this morning: perhaps the first ever autumn record of Fairy Pitta in Thailand. Went for a relaxed stroll with my wife this afternoon and she kindly relocated it for me🤣

Over the last week I spent a couple of mornings looking for waders in the rice paddies east of Bangkok. Highlights have included small parties of Pacific Golden Plovers, Grey-headed Lapwing and Oriental Pratincoles.

Passerine migration has started in #Bangkok during the last 10 days with Eastern Crowned Warbler, Forest Wagtail, Dark-sided and Asian Brown Flycatchers all reported in the city's parks. This morning I got in on the action with 3 Yellow-rumped Flycatchers in Suan Rotfai #birding

Birding around Bangkok is rudely good at the moment - I spent this afternoon watching two Spoon-billed Sandpipers, one in very advanced breeding plumage (the best looking I've ever seen). Yesterday I had a flock of 100+ Yelow-breasted Buntings, including quite a few breeding plumaged males #birding

Context: this speech is from SIR THOMAS MORE, a history written, as near as scholars can tell, in the early 1600s by 6 or 7 people including Dekker, Heywood, Chettle, Shakespeare, and Munday. It was never performed, because Jacobean England was a police state and it was banned by the censor.

Cambodia, since ancient times, has been hydrologist, controlling and living by the water. Fish is the main source of protein for Cambodians. Slow climate is much more complex. As a result, fish yield goes down, and the tools to catch fish become more damaging to the environment.

Chaps! Do yourself a favour and get a blood test done to have your PSA levels checked. I did last month and my elevated levels triggered off a scan, biopsy and prostate cancer diagnosis. The good news is that is a tiny amount, confined and not aggressive. Seems a good time to urge others to check!

A couple of skulking endemics from my recent trip to #MountKinabalu. Mountain Wren-babbler (left) is typically found in small, noisy groups marauding close to the forest floor, whilst Bornean Stubtail (right) has a thin, very high-pitched call that I was amazed my ageing ears could still pick up 😅
