I never overlap on drafting. I can switch from drafting to copy edits or proofing galleys but I can’t write prose for two things in a day. PORCELAIN is in the can so no conflict there

I just saw the news about John Crowley's death. Little, Big is my favorite novel. I first read it when I came out of Clarion at 23, and it made me want to write a book like that someday, and also convinced me that I'd never come close, so what was the point? He was a genius.

Some critics may be better at this than others -- and we can criticize the critics! But short of the author baldly stating what their intent is -- which would probably be a mistake -- the critic has to gather evidence for intent and measure success that way
