The Miz did an interview in which he relayed how Vince McMahon wanted him to come out in a bald cap to impersonate The Rock. Miz said this was absurd as he's a white guy who's at least 50 lbs lighter. But it worked because "they wanted to believe so much." This is an allegory for all of society now.

Related, I feel this new era of Marvel and Star Wars officially crossing over (first in comics, up next in this Epic Game) represents a new cultural low for all of us. I don't think it's a coincidence that after Kathleen Kennedy exits Lucasfilm, Disney starts doing Star Wars in canonical crossovers

Max Caster got fired more or less immediately after this; his tenure with TNA lasted less than 24 hours. TNA removed all posts about him, citing that "people were offended." Was it THAT offensive, or was it because the joke pertained to Saudi Arabia? Wasn't TNA going to do a show in Qatar this year?

Adding alt text to this message to make it more accessible for people who use screen readers. It's an Instagram story from Danny Trejo's daughter, about his involvement in that Daily Wire-produced film. The short story is that according to him, he was duped into it and is now trapped under contract.

For anyone seeing this shit with my dad...

He was booked on a film, it's not pro-ice, it's not overtly pro anything. His agent described it as "a complicated story about a complicated time, where everyone looks bad except you, the hardworking Mexican shop owner who just wants peace"

He jumped at the idea of playing a good guy.

About 2 weeks into shooting everyone, including us, found out Ben Shapiro was involved.

My 82 year old dad has never heard of Ben Shapiro, I had to explain to him who that is, and what kind of guy he is.

My dad contractually can't bad mouth him, the film, or walk away without being sued for breach of contract. He can't even release the statement he wanted to.

It's fucked up. He's handcuffed to this stupid project, and swaths of people have instantly turned their back on him without knowing any of the facts.

Ben Shapiro got Mexicans to abandon one of their heroes, got his own name to the top of google's searches, and made us look like angry fools lacking any nuance. he wins.

And Christopher Walken! Privateer 2 was not really a sequel to Wing Commander: Privateer, since it was its own setting which they claimed was tied to WC for marketing, but it’s also the first time I saw a few of those actors (like Clive Owen). I think it was supposed to just be called The Darkening.

Jason Bernard! He's like the sixth most famous person in this cast and he rules! My not particularly hot take is that WC3 (and to a lesser extent 4) was all the goodwill Roberts needed to turn Star Citizen into the gigantic project it has become. Man, those two games ruled.

I have long held that gamers will never ever “do without” rather than accede to the latest anti-consumer practice. They’ll only “take a stand” if the thing was something they already weren’t going to buy. Like how 20+ years ago they didn’t reject CoD Modern Warfare 2 for not having dedicated servers

It devolved into a more run-of-the-mill "super-enhanced people fighting" formula for well, the vast majority of its existence, but at least Sakamoto Days has remembered what made the series stand out. More battle shonen needs to remember to include a good joke hit to the balls during the last battle

Sakamoto Days Chapter 278: fat Sakamoto blocks a melee strike by using the curved handle end of an umbrella. He brandishes the handle end, quickly manuevers behind his opponent Slur, and states "This end is actually the dangerous part. You learn that in school."

The next page showing Sakamoto position the hook handle of the umbrella between Slur's legs before yanking upwards with a giant PTING sound effect, causing Slur to puff out his cheeks and say "Oof..." as stunned battle shonen onlookers have nothing to say other than "..." before exclaiming "Oh, we used to get in trouble for that at school!"
