Burnham being a gobshite on this is not a shock. He has laid his groundwork with Everton. He didn't need to use his groundwork but he can't help himself. The PM should remain neutral at all costs. He is suggesting he may well already have tried to intervene. This and Everton have little in common.

there's something wild about seeing "man city were shit" in such legal prose
i) ADUG’s acquisition of the Club
47) In the 1960s and 1970s the Club had enjoyed a period of considerable success. Leaner times then followed. The Club spent the 1980s in the old Football League First and Second Divisions. Although an inaugural member of the PL in the 1992/1993 season, by the end of the 1997/1998 season the Club had been relegated to Division Two – the first time in its 100+ year history that the Club had found itself in the third tier of English football. Although it returned to the PL at the end of the 2001/2002 season, the years that followed
saw the Club finish between 8th and 15th in the PL.

This Japan team looks a lot like a young group of players who haven’t had to “compete” much all tournament suddenly playing against a team who have the passion and skill to punish them.

Then you’d have a “Sevco” situation (Rangers), where the club is refounded under new ownership. But they have to start in the North West Counties League or something. Either way, if something like this doesn’t happen. The rules are a joke, and City will just do it again.

The worry is, all that, along with being sued by nearly every club in English Professional Football (and possibly UEFA) might make them just declare City bankrupt. Especially if the owners are banned from football (as they should be).

About Man City… The most “correct” punishment is expulsion from the Premier League, then the EFL and even the National League refusing to accept them. With an incredibly huge fine and transfer ban for several years. That’s the scale of the cheating and obstruction that has gone on.

Far from me to defend the UK media, but the UK’s libel laws are grossly unfair and they probably feared City’s bottomless pockets for lawfare.

I’d argue even the “chappy” nickname is said genuinely by oldies, and sarcastically by younger people. It’s a fun toy to most. And you can bet they’d never pay for it, even at these ridiculously subsidised prices! I personally call it ゲロくん🤮

The background noise to all of this is, as with everywhere else, “if you don’t like use AI you don’t get your bonus / we’ll replace you with someone who does.” Japan is not different. Anyone who actually has to use AI for something important to them hates it.

At my job, AI is being pushed hard by the aged management class, just like every other country. The whole point, as with every other country, is cost savings (they want to stop paying humans). There are endless “projects” and “orders” to introduce it into the workflow everywhere

If I was back in the UK, I’d get down to watch the #LFC women play. They’ve finally clicked and have got Gareth Taylor’s way of playing into their heads. Pressing, passing, they’re really good. Can’t wait to see Mao Itamura in this team, she’s really special. All just about adding bits now.

Didn’t something like that happen to Rangers in a Scotland when they went out of business and had to reform? They applied to the Scottish Football League for a place and the league said naw. You’ve got ta work ya way up from the very bottom.

The funny thing is that the EFL is also a members club, and they are NOT obliged to accept City if the Premier League throws them out. The EFL can just say “Nope. You broke the rules so badly that we don’t want you. Go ask the National League if they’ll have you.” Which leads to the same thing again

The whole premise of City blocking & being uncooperative at every turn should lead to their expulsion alone. The PL is a members club, if you won't play by the rules everyone has signed up for, fine go play somewhere else #lfc

… if they’re thrown out of the league (or relegated), plus sued for huge sums by multiple different clubs / institutions, then the owners might just decide to walk away to avoid paying or admitting wrongdoing. They could bankrupt City and get off Scott free.

Those “No Winner” spots on the Tour de France roll of honour serve as a constant reminder of what happened there. I do want LFC and who ever else to sue the ever loving arse off City for this though. Make the owners pay. In fact, my biggest worry might be for City as a club…

The Premier League has to come down hard. This could be as bad as Calciopoli. We’ve all been paying to watch a gigantic fraud. The investigation only goes up to 2018. If they opened another one into City until the present day, who knows what they’d find?

Very, very difficult if things are and remain as reported for this not to be the start of a chain of events that lead to expulsion. The scale of the breach of good faith alone makes it hard to see another outcome. Still a lot more process though am sure.
