I know it goes without saying but as the right wing media-political complex runs from Trump we should remember that they played a leading role in--and gleefully profited from--enabling and promoting him. Accomplices trying to get off a sinking ship, trying to salvage what's left of their reputation

It’s very simple and it’s been said over and over but I guess it needs saying continuously: if you deem one group too small to have equal rights you are enabling fascism, not fighting it. The people saying Dems are GREAT on trans rights are not paying attention and/or saying stuff like this.
Nichole Hiltz
The Democrats defend the Kennedy Center but not trans people.
A building.

@treewarrior.bsky....
maybe because defending everything about a super small minority of the population is not worth losing to fascists

McConnell denied Garland a vote nine months out under the guise that there was an election soon and then jammed through Coney Barrett a week before Biden won. They have been flipping the bird to the concepts of norms and fairness for decades and the democrats have done jack shit to fight back.

You are cursed with illiteracy. I said that Susan is *not* one of those people who can accompany the Left on a journey of electoral solvency. Her rhetoric is inflamed by a lifetime of Zionist sadism and cruelty; her testimony can inform how we see victims of Zionism, but she can't be a spokesperson.

The last, desperate gasp of Zionism in its western appeal is to equivocate the viability of Israel as a state with the safety and security of individual Jews everywhere, not just in Palestine. They suggest that Israel is the representative of world Judaism, ethnically, religiously, and politically.

Darius Arian @dariusarian.bsky.social · 11/05/2026
You are arguing against something that I'm not for. Many Jews are strong allies in the fight for Palestinian rights and their allyship is appreciated. This is undisputed. I posit that those who are neutral are allowing Israel to tie its political destiny to their personal security concerns, wrongly.

Cheney and MGT are conservative Republican through and through. Cheney voted for Harris, many conservatives didn't. She can find her own personal absolution in knowing that she did so, but Harris *seeking* that endorsement muddied her message, her base, her appeal, and what she stood for.

This is usually true--but MAGA types are unnaturally fickle, conniving, and opportunistic. They all have a seething disdain for anyone who cannot advance them politically. Their willingness to knife one another is ubiquitous even in good times. Do you disagree?

Darius Arian @dariusarian.bsky.social · 10/05/2026
Her opposition to Trump can only be useful to use in styming any attempts at him using the State to control/manipulate the electoral process or remain in power in violation of the Constitution. Once he is gone, she will have to face the same wall he and his other lackeys will.

Darius Arian @dariusarian.bsky.social · 10/05/2026
I have said many times in clarifying my original position that her break with Trump (as the central and load-bearing figure of MAGA) is not a refutation of conservative policy priors. Because of this, she cannot ever be a salient partner in the work the liberal-left axis has wrt de-Trumpification.

If Himmler was attempting to foment a coup against Hitler in 1941, I would have found that potentially convenient to the Allied war effort without feeling the need to validate him or his beliefs. Would you disagree?
000
Darius Arian @dariusarian.bsky.social · 10/05/2026
No, I have no defense of MTG. None whatsoever. I make no apology for any of her lunacy or her shameless attempt to knife trump for her own political survival. I don't subscribe to it, and I have no need to defend her on it. I simply find the latter incident to be convenient to Democrats.

Darius Arian @dariusarian.bsky.social · 10/05/2026
I hadn't heard anything about the space lasers nonsense. Those aren't the circles in which I traffic. I have (to little effect) attempted to illuminate you and the other witless liberals who disagree that her political obstinace to Trump can benefit Democrats. That's the sum total of my stance.

Darius Arian @dariusarian.bsky.social · 10/05/2026
Hi Isaac. Little as you like it, I don't believe in Jewish extermination. She and I disagree comprehensively on every kind of political, social, or moral question. I just find her resistance to Trump politically convenient for Democrats, regardless of how opportunistic or shallow her reasoning.
100
Darius Arian @dariusarian.bsky.social · 10/05/2026
You are correct. The words I chose failed my initial intent; she's betrayed Trump who is the ideological center of the MAGA movement. It revolves around him completely. The rupture in the movement is from those who think his subservience to Israel is a betrayal of his original platform.
000
Darius Arian @dariusarian.bsky.social · 10/05/2026
I certainly hope so, but I can't be sure. 10 years ago I would have told you 3/4 of the things Trump said/did in office would have been totally farcical and impossible. Even five years ago, I wouldn't believe what we're living through now. We can't know if this is really the beginning of the end.

That's why she's a private citizen and Zohran is not. They should both keep fighting the good fight. They both agree about what must be done, even if they cannot feasibly employ the same means. But expectations for Mamdani to do anything but reject her as a kind of ideological surrogate are lunacy.

Darius Arian @dariusarian.bsky.social · 10/05/2026
I have zero criticisms about Susan's personal experience suffering under the Zionist yoke. I find her deeply sympathetic. I think there's real power in weaponizing that sentiment of rage against injustice. But an elected official cannot reasonably endorse everything she says. That's madness.

Leftists have the difficult responsibility of balancing electability in a country that is totally morally vacant with being unrepentant advocates for political justice. Not everyone can come with you on that journey. Susan is one of them.

Oh, so Iran GHOSTED ghosted him
Iran has been playing games with the United States, and the rest of the World, for 47 years (DELAY, DELAY, DELAY!), and then finally hit “pay dirt” when Barack Hussein Obama became President. He was not only good to them, he was great, actually going to their side, jettisoning Israel, and all other Allies, and giving Iran a major and very powerful new lease on life. Hundreds of Billions of Dollars, and 1.7 Billion Dollars in green cash, flown into Tehran, was handed to them on a silver platter. Every Bank in D.C., Virginia, and Maryland was emptied out — It was so much money that when it arrived, the Iranian Thugs had no idea what to do with it. They had never seen money like this, and never will again. It was taken off the plane in suitcases and satchels, and the Iranians couldn’t believe their luck. They finally found the greatest SUCKER of them all, in the form of a weak and stupid American President. He was a disaster as our “Leader,” but not as bad as Sleepy Joe Biden! For 47 years the Iranians have been “tapping” us along, keeping us waiting, killing our people with their roadside bombs, destroying protests, and recently wiping out 42,000 innocent, unarmed protestors, and laughing at our now GREAT AGAIN Country. They will be laughing no longer! President DONALD J. TRUMP

"MTG sacrificed her political career to stand up against genocide, Trump, and the Epstein class" is a weird claim because what she actually did was resign, giving up her position of moderate power and influence, so now she can't even do those things.

The usual attempts to discipline behavior such as "you're an antisemite if you stand against Israel and its supporters" and "you're a Christian supremacist if you don't take me seriously" have no purchase with me. A man cannot allow his political opposition to characterize his own beliefs for him.

It's gauche to flex the Doctorate in Government from Georgetown. College droupout did get a good laugh, though. Is this the part where I call YOU the real Nazi? I mean, if we're just going to levy unfalsifiable accusations about each other over minuscule political differences, of course.

Darius Arian @dariusarian.bsky.social · 10/05/2026
It is as apparent as it is unsurprising that you have low standards for what "Christian supremacy" is. Even funnier that I don't even meet the especially barren requirements you laid out for it to begin with.

Darius Arian @dariusarian.bsky.social · 10/05/2026
My views are entirely my own, yours entirely your own, etc. And I'm very fine with that. But "us" refers to the broad coalition of Americans who refuse and resist Trump's authoritarianism. I am apart of that. If you are not, I pity you.

Darius Arian @dariusarian.bsky.social · 10/05/2026
I'd advise you not to be a maximalist in your belief that anyone who disagrees with you about political strategy is a Nazi. That doing so only serves an inflated sense of personal righteousness. But in fairness, it's not uncommon in the history of the Left, unfortunately. So, it is what it is.

Darius Arian @dariusarian.bsky.social · 10/05/2026
Change my opinion of what? I don't like MTG. I don't think she's a good person. I don't like her politics. I've loathed just about everyone who reminds me of that archetype of shitty midwit conservative woman. Her opposition to Trump is politically convenient to us. That's all.

She thinks she can extend her political survival by hopping off the MAGA wagon as soon as it isn't politically fruitful for her. Her vocal opposition to Trump can be useful to Democrats. That is undebatable. That doesn't mean she should be trusted, rehabilitated, or integrated into "the left".

Darius Arian @dariusarian.bsky.social · 10/05/2026
No. Sounds to me like anti-semitism.
100
Darius Arian @dariusarian.bsky.social · 10/05/2026
No, I asked you earnestly whether you were doing a "anti-zionism = antisemitism" or if there was something else she said of which I was not aware. It turned out to be the latter case. Blaming wildfires on the Jewish space lasers is flatly stupid, not that I ever endorsed her politics to begin with.
100
Darius Arian @dariusarian.bsky.social · 10/05/2026
