We ran a randomized controlled trial to see how much AI coding tools speed up experienced open-source developers. The results surprised us: Developers thought they were 20% faster with AI tools, but they were actually 19% slower when they had access to AI than when they didn't.

In my current place they ran a trial of both Amazon Q and GH Copilot this year. A few dozen devs were put in each trial and the ones on Q (I was on Copilot) were complaining a lot and lots of them dropped/switched before the end of the trial.

Changing this Windows Terminal setting has drastically improved the experience of launching/debugging from Visual Studio for me. Highly recommended if you regularly keep a terminal window open on a non-primary monitor & separate from the monitor VS is on.
