I have separated the art from the artist, carefully drawing a knife along the grain of the art. We can mix the art with paraffin or beeswax to make a great fire starter, while the artist will form the ribs of our woven basket. Start by weaving 6 artists together in a cross shape

You know what grinds my gears? Coffee beans come in bags of 250g or 1kg. But coffee bean dosage is measures in divisions of 60g per Litre.

Yes. 10 years ago. This is very Correct. Why, my beloved sci romp movies Starship Troopers and Men In Black are only 5 years old. At absolute Max. I, also, am an eternal spring chicken. Turning 40 is something that will happen to other people, but not I! Not I!

We don't live in slop world because of AI, we live in slop world because the purpose of everything is to generate a return on investment for capital. We evaluate everything along metrics designed to serve that purpose over any other. AI is just the best way we found of optimizing for these metrics.

Just remembering there was a kids show with a robot character called Ninjizz. It pronounced its name with a real heavy emphasis on the "jizz" part.

Help me. I don't know what I'm doing and need someone to tell me if these new features are good. Are they good? Is this melon bird too fast? Are these my legs? Why do I wake up tired? These questions need answers!

Shout out to the 3D artist who cold-emailed me a job application with a clearly AI written cover letter about the wonderful 3D art in my 2D retro pixel art game. I try to be patient and understanding, I know its rough out here getting gigs. However, that shit was so egregious I just deleted it.

06/25/2026 return to the sea

a crude drawing of a man laying sticking out of ocean water on his back with his arms outstretched. The water is full of trash. The text says "i try to reject my humanity, my limbs, my spine, and return to the simple life of an ocean creature, but the ocean rejects me. It already holds too much of mankind's trash."

Rough day, so have a poem about the Jar of Moles in the Grant Zoology Museum in London that everyone has regarded as too thoroughly batshit to publish

Jar of Moles (Grant Zoology Museum, London)
crittery dozened things each pink snout snootling
formaldehyde up it's bamboozler which poor fuck
had to collect them out in the dirt with a shovel
here moley moley BONK . I’m only gonna
put you in a jar and let tourists go eww at you
for the next two hundred years god look at me
for two hundred years I’d do anything look
mummy, one of them’s licking the glass—
honey it's dead velvety sweet sardined hope
their ghosts are friends teeming in a molish
afterlife dark and circular everything worm-
flavoured tasty buggy snackerels what if
you smashed the mole jar? vinegared
moles spilling out flaccid & swimming
everyone screaming someone saying Freddy
you gotta get us a new jar of moles—
—goddammit boss I never asked for any of this

A jar of wet preserved moles, the jar is very full and all the little hands, feet and snoots mark it as both upsetting and fascinating

someone on tumblr said it better than i could

I'm not saying be willfully ignorant. I'm not saying pretend horrible things aren't happening. I'm saying don't destroy your mental health going in-depth and cycling through horror after horror on your phone. I'm saying there is no virtue in making yourself experience other people's traumas because mere awareness is not activism. you inflicting suffering on yourself is not activism.
doomscrolling is literally sapping your energy and focus away from doing anything useful to help other people. you can burn yourself out without ever lifting a finger by exposing yourself to all the bad news in the world and who does that help? no one.

I often think about this when I read about super low games budgets. "Made X from a budget of just 100k" etc. The blood comes from somewhere. The sweat comes from somewhere. Just because you didn't pay for it doesn't make it free.
