France passed a law requiring solar panels on every parking lot with more than 80 spaces. Equals 10 nuclear reactors Reduces heat island, shades cars The US -- 800 million parking spaces. Most of them are uncovered asphalt sitting in direct sunlight. Why aren't we doing this?

Around 90% of pigs sent for slaughter in the UK are currently killed using CO2. This involves lowering pigs into a CO2 chamber, where they panic, fight for breath, and eventually suffocate. Steps to end this cruel method are long overdue.
The UK Government commit to ending CO2 slaughter for pigs.

Our paper published back in May, 'The Good Society Starts Small', called for the end of the two-child benefit limit. Baroness Ruth Lister made an inarguable case for it - morally and economically. We are ecstatic it is being ended. But this is just the beginning.

It really shouldn’t take awesome local campaigners like @escalatenow.bsky.social to provide updates on the lifts for people wanting to cross the river east of Tower Bridge on foot or wheeling bikes. TfL need to pick up the foot tunnels as strategic river crossings and make the lifts reliable.
