COVID-19: The Elephant in the Room Everyone Keeps Ignoring @pacoonpause.bsky.social Source: x.com/PacoOnPause/...
A screenshot of a social media thread discussing Long COVID. The top post is by PACO (@PacoOnPause) and states: "Most people won't admit or even consider that they have Long COVID. Instead, they just have mystery health problems that are only mysterious if we ignore thousands of studies and pretend that COVID isn't a vascular disease that everyone keeps getting reinfected with."
Embedded below it is a quoted post from "Suzaku has Long Covid/MECFS 🥴🍉" (@Suzaku_is_tired), which is outlined in a thin black hand-drawn loop. The quote details medical struggles of four friends aged 30–40: Friend 1 had a stroke and is applying for disability; Friend 2 was diagnosed with a rare neuroimmune disorder; Friend 3 sees doctors constantly and was told it is perimenopause; Friend 4 was told their articulation pain is "all in my head." The quote has a timestamp of 10:56 PM · Sep 18, 2026, and 22.5K views. The main post has 18.4K views.

Finally saw Obsession. Honestly one of the best horror films I've seen in a very long time. Inde Navarrette is utterly fantastic in the role. It's a strong script but her acting choices are amazing and elevate the material. 10/10

I don't get the way some folks are with films now. Films don't have to be the "greatest thing ever," or the "worst thing ever." Most films are going to fall somewhere in the middle. Hopefully on the good side of average but not always.

"When Lifelong Runners Are Forced to Quit" Matt Fitzgerald, 55, finished 50 marathons before developing long COVID in 2020. The illness left him unable to walk. He spent 3 years completely unable to run at all, finding that exercise only made his condition worse. Source: archive.md/PEXza
A screenshot of a The New York Times article by Liz Krieger, published on June 30, 2026.
The large bold headline reads, "When Lifelong Runners Are Forced to Quit." The subheadline reads, "For those who rely on the sport for identity and community, leaving it behind can feel like a form of grief."
A large, vertically framed photograph features a woman with curly brown hair, identified as Jamie Panzarella, age 51. She sits barefoot on wide outdoor wooden steps, wearing a pink t-shirt and dark pants. Her arms are resting on her knees as she stares directly into the camera with a somber, serious expression. Green trees and foliage fill the background.
The caption beneath the photograph reads: "Jamie Panzarella, 51, had to give up running a few years ago. She used to run nearly every day. Jordan Vonderhaar for The New York Times".

Watch Five Nights At Freddy's 2. I enjoyed the first film even not knowing the lore. The second starts out okay and then as it approaches the halfway mark it needs to start pushing character stupidity forward so the film can happen. The quality rapidly descends after that. 3/10

Backrooms (2026) really good psychological horror, well directed and I feel would reward repeat viewings 10/10 Robo Croc (2013) Solid cinematography, and a couple of nice props. Some script issues and very dodgy effects. Very entertaining however 1/10

You know a funny thing about this book? When it came out someone said, "This is such a cool take on the zombie genre!" I was confused. I didn't write a zombie book. Until I thought about it and realised they were right. Hidden City IS, in part, a kind of new take on the zombie genre. I'm such a pro!

Okay, generalized optimization tips for game models. 1: optimisation means 'as efficient as possible within defined constraints". The important thing before you begin optimising is the 'defined constraints' bit. What are you optimising for? Framerate? Memory? Draw calls? Artist time? Cost?

This little guy looks like someone surprised him while he was frolicking naked at the office. This solid gold (and, er, quite male) figure from the Tolima culture of Colombia wears a large feathered headdress, ear plugs, stacks of bracelets, and a nose ring. 🏺 1/ 5th-10th c. CE. #MetMuseum 📸 me
Tolima gold figure pendant in the form of a male with a nose ring, erect phallus, stacks of bracelets, and a feathered (?) headdress. The nose ring is quite large and gives the impression of an open screaming mouth, and the eyes are two round beads; those, together with the headdress (which resembles comic hair flaring out in shock) gives the impression of this guy being very comically scared. His elbows are at his sides, but the hands are raised almost to the shoulders, probably in a worshipful pose. He wears only a thick belt above his erect phallus.

Gold work from the Tolima region of Columbia is characterized by strong geometric forms combining stylized parts of humans and animals.

I'd make Doctor Who lower budget looking. If the stories are good enough, no one would care. Save the money for big stuff that needed it. 26 half hour episodes with cliffhangers that can be edited to make 13 45min EPs for the US market. Virtual unknown as the Doctor. No arcs, self-contained tales

The most extreme examples of
Stendhal syndrome share a sensation of
self-fragmentation. Magherini
describes the case of a 53-year-old
German man who was hospitalized

Unmoored and distressed, he sought

I keep seeing folks saying, "Maybe it's time Doctor Who had a rest." Counterpoint - the show wasn't the problem. The people making it deifying the Doctor, and focusing on the Doctor or big fanwanky tales over simply telling great stories was the problem.

New company brings the show back with a new Doctor Who and doesn't bother to explain the change. Later, if they have the money, we get a flashback to Billie. As Bad Wolf she recreates 15th Doctor, explains that reality got messed up and she's reversed the regeneration. And there's no do-overs.
