New paper: Long COVID exposes a huge blind spot in how governments define “security.” We respond quickly to sudden, visible crises, but seem to accept mass disability as normal, even while it puts growing pressure on healthcare, the workforce, the economy and society. Published: 28 September 2026

Nothing to see here...just the President of the United States inviting the country he illegally declared war on to "take out" 2 major American cities. If that's not treason, what is? 🤬 Law enforcement won't hold him accountable, but we WILL! The beginning of the end is on November 3rd. #VOTE-BLUE 🌊

I love Santa-ing. And haven't done it since covid because there aren't the protections in place. If I catch it I can infect hundreds of folks, mostly children, before I show symptoms. Forgetting risk to them, they can infect all manner of elderly/at risk relatives. I won't be responsible for that.

If you’re still wearing a mask, thank you. Please know you’re not alone. Many of us still mask, test and isolate when sick. Being the lone masker can be difficult, but your long term health is worth it. As a high risk, immunocompromised person… I see and appreciate you.

3/3 Her suggestion was - bring the Penny Plunderer, Kite Man, and Condiment King into the Absolute universe. Completely unchanged from their original appearances. Make them identical to their origins! It would be hilarious! And god knows, Absolute Batman could use some levity.
A man grasping prison bars, looking directly at the viewer. He's got black hair, a pencil moustache, and he looks like he's screaming maniacally at the viewer even when he only has a thought bubble.
Panel text reads, "And then Coyne makes his vow!"
Thought bubble reads, "When I get out I'll get back at coppers and pennies! I'll fight coppers — with pennies! Every job I pull will involve pennies! MY CRIME SYMBOL WILL BE PENNIES!"

2/3 Add to that, making most of the villains he faces even bigger giants is just... ugh! I like that a lot of the villains are billionaires, or work for them. But yeah. However, my daughter had the best idea ever for three returning villains!

1/3 I have a lot of issues with Absolute Batman. I think the whole concept of Bruce Wayne without money, etc. is great, but to go make him a friggin' giant, and to jump into the story when he's already built some bases and a gigantic Batmobile is a terrible idea.

COVID-19: The Elephant in the Room Everyone Keeps Ignoring @pacoonpause.bsky.social Source: x.com/PacoOnPause/...
A screenshot of a social media thread discussing Long COVID. The top post is by PACO (@PacoOnPause) and states: "Most people won't admit or even consider that they have Long COVID. Instead, they just have mystery health problems that are only mysterious if we ignore thousands of studies and pretend that COVID isn't a vascular disease that everyone keeps getting reinfected with."
Embedded below it is a quoted post from "Suzaku has Long Covid/MECFS 🥴🍉" (@Suzaku_is_tired), which is outlined in a thin black hand-drawn loop. The quote details medical struggles of four friends aged 30–40: Friend 1 had a stroke and is applying for disability; Friend 2 was diagnosed with a rare neuroimmune disorder; Friend 3 sees doctors constantly and was told it is perimenopause; Friend 4 was told their articulation pain is "all in my head." The quote has a timestamp of 10:56 PM · Sep 18, 2026, and 22.5K views. The main post has 18.4K views.

Finally saw Obsession. Honestly one of the best horror films I've seen in a very long time. Inde Navarrette is utterly fantastic in the role. It's a strong script but her acting choices are amazing and elevate the material. 10/10

I've read the book several times, and seen the film more. The projectionist talked about putting the reels together for the showing and said with Kubrick, as you wind through the reels quickly, you just get long, blurred sequences of look and colour that are beautiful to see.

Both the teens enjoyed Clockwork Orange. Said it wasn't what they expected, but it was good 👍 Had another great chat with the projectionist, and gave her a Clockwork Orange pin. She's been the one picking the 35mm films, so it seemed like an appropriate thank you :)

I find it odd people who have no nuance in their opinions complain that films that aren't groundbreakingly amazing from beginning to end are bad. By that metric, they're all bad reviewers. Oh, wait...

I don't get the way some folks are with films now. Films don't have to be the "greatest thing ever," or the "worst thing ever." Most films are going to fall somewhere in the middle. Hopefully on the good side of average but not always.

"When Lifelong Runners Are Forced to Quit" Matt Fitzgerald, 55, finished 50 marathons before developing long COVID in 2020. The illness left him unable to walk. He spent 3 years completely unable to run at all, finding that exercise only made his condition worse. Source: archive.md/PEXza
A screenshot of a The New York Times article by Liz Krieger, published on June 30, 2026.
The large bold headline reads, "When Lifelong Runners Are Forced to Quit." The subheadline reads, "For those who rely on the sport for identity and community, leaving it behind can feel like a form of grief."
A large, vertically framed photograph features a woman with curly brown hair, identified as Jamie Panzarella, age 51. She sits barefoot on wide outdoor wooden steps, wearing a pink t-shirt and dark pants. Her arms are resting on her knees as she stares directly into the camera with a somber, serious expression. Green trees and foliage fill the background.
The caption beneath the photograph reads: "Jamie Panzarella, 51, had to give up running a few years ago. She used to run nearly every day. Jordan Vonderhaar for The New York Times".

Watch Five Nights At Freddy's 2. I enjoyed the first film even not knowing the lore. The second starts out okay and then as it approaches the halfway mark it needs to start pushing character stupidity forward so the film can happen. The quality rapidly descends after that. 3/10
