Another consideration, is Bruno needed to get Vini? I presume the answer is yes, as Vini seems the type who’d like a core group around him - Gabs, Bruno and maybe even keep Jesus or Marts so he has a buddy for forwards training. That to me feels worth it, however crazy the Vini deal still is

Also potentially good news Forest winning as we’d prefer Villa to not have a final a few days after they play City

Not to mention we had a spell when both Saliba and Gabs got injured at the same time. The equivalent almost blew up City’s season until they fortunately were able to sign Guehi on >£300k/wk

5-4: Unbelievable ball from Kane and finish by Diaz but someone has to get tighter to Kane when he comes deep as this is Bayern's game Obviously the level of attacking quality is high but you'd never see this sort of defending from PL clubs

Danny Clink @dannyclink.bsky.social · 29/04/2026
4-2: Diaz doesn't track Hakimi's run behind. Bayern with 4 players back in the box defending, with no one on Kvara 5-2: Upamencano has to get tighter to Dembele 5-3: World class delivery by Kimmich from the FK but no-one is marking Upamencano (the main target)

2-1: Neves (the smallest man on the pitch) scores a header from a corner near post 2-2: Olise collects the ball in the middle of the pitch and dribbles uncontested into the box and shoots right down the middle 3-2: Horrendous penalty call by the ref/VAR for ball to hand

A summary on the defending last night in PSG-Bayern game: 0-1: Kimmich with loads of room to waltz to the edge of the box and pick a pass. Terrible tackle by Pacho on Diaz 1-1: Upamencano nowhere near tight enough to Doue, who has time to turn and loft a ball into Kvara. Poor defending by Stanisis

I also think it’s cos football fans don’t care about them. Limited incentive to talk about stuff that doesn’t get engagement. Curious how many tune into the FA cup final between them and the other club that barely gets critiqued cos fans don’t care about them

Yes and no. Yes we need a break but if you look at City’s next 5 games - Newcastle (A), Real (A), West Ham (A), Real (H), Arsenal (cup) - I’d actually love the league season to continue as they are going to be knackered. Often overlooked results/performances are relative to peers

Basically our xG doesn’t feel a good measure of our opportunities in that game and curious if there’s a way to measure them. Also as you guys have proved our conversion vs xG isn’t a problem - but getting good quality xG as a % of opportunities does feel like one

Danny Clink @dannyclink.bsky.social · 01/03/2026
Is there any data analysis which shows how many good opportunities we didn’t get a shot from or got a low quality shot vs what the game state presented? Tross blew two 4 on 3s, Gyok two 1-1s, and Eze/Saka had 2 or 3 where we should have had shots or higher quality shots

My Trade Secrets today. The Trump tariff refunds saga is blackly comic. About 20% of tariffs levied on Chinese exporters are paid directly by those exporters. So they get a refund windfall, having largely passed the tariff costs on to US co.s & consumers. I know, right? as.ft.com/r/30dbb3e0-8...

Everyone on here is moaning about Eze and Noni’s attacking production but Mikel will be frustrated with them defensively. Creating high turnovers leads to transitions and good chances, and also protects your defence and allows you to dominate the ball - leading to more time spent attacking.

Danny Clink @dannyclink.bsky.social · 13/02/2026
These attacking numbers are grim but the biggest issue with the front 4 today was the defensive high press. If that’s better you then get a lot more of the ball in good positions which boosts everyone’s numbers. Arguably our best chance all game came through Ode’s press and Rice’s non-shot.

I don't know if this data exists but I'd love to see how we are scoring goals and compare that to other PL teams (e.g. cutbacks, high/deep turnovers, crosses, central play, etc). There is frustration that we don't score more but more clarity on specifically where we can improve would be helpful!

This point is key and I don't think it's well understood. Is it right that basically when it’s windy, wind pushes wholesale price down by displacing higher-cost gen (often gas), we top wind up to the strike price, but average prices are still dragged down, which is what we're comparing to?

One key point I think you've missed on Kai is he's now physically different to this data in terms of muscle mass and weight. Assuming he stays healthy and the injuries don't effect his pace/skill, I think you'd expect him to be a better ST as he was slight before (though he played bigger).

Another win, back to the top & it’s still not good enough? Will obviously feel amazing if we win something but the building narrative of the last few years is suffocating & the relatively unfair pressure on this group of players (& the fans) is sucking a lot of the joy out of the journey.
