Daniel @danielransom.com · 26/09/2024I’m in the EU, final yes/no decisions can’t be made by AI which is kinda fair. But you can find and rank applicants. Seems clear most of their job will be automated and they’ll just pick off the top of the pile to decide who to forward for an interview. Probably works better for everyone. 020
Daniel @danielransom.com · 26/09/2024First ones to be replaced by AI. 90% of their job is a LinkedIn wrapper, soon it’ll be 99%. 020
Daniel @danielransom.com · 26/09/2024I tried putting something on my LinkedIn like “won’t work with Java” but then you just get a ton of messages from recruiters who searched all profiles with “Java”. 240
Daniel @danielransom.com · 13/08/2024Did it a day or two ago. No regrets yet, but it does always seem to bite me eventually. Some cool new features. 100
Daniel @danielransom.com · 09/08/2024I thought I didn’t have this but turns out I just have my lists set up so I rarely see anything except a tightly curated group of posters I follow. 010
Daniel @danielransom.com · 09/08/2024This? Tapped it but no idea what it does, just opens a list of similar profiles I guess. 120
Daniel @danielransom.com · 21/07/2024Rare to be upload limited. Amsterdam is an old city but they’re slowly laying fiber now. Hopefully that’ll be an option soon. 120
Daniel @danielransom.com · 19/07/2024Seems to imply some other purpose they would be better suited for. 110
Daniel @danielransom.com · 11/07/2024Rivella is good. It gets its unique flavor from being one of the only (clear) sodas primarily made from milk. 130

Daniel @danielransom.com · 11/03/2024Apparently it’s possible for a refrigerator to essentially get a UTI, as I recently found out. It’s a built in so I had to buy special tools to flush its drainage tubing with bleach. 120
Daniel @danielransom.com · 10/03/2024IDK why it’s such a hidden secret but it’s amazing, probably the feature I use the most. Nobody ever knows it, I used Linux full time for 10 years before I realized it. 120
Daniel @danielransom.com · 10/03/2024They have some fucked up regional name where I’m from but it’s totally escaped me. 110
Daniel @danielransom.com · 09/03/2024Very unique in that regard. For example, you can be lousy with lots of things. 010

Daniel @danielransom.com · 07/03/2024About 6 years ago a grizzled old senior dev had to help me solve something. Afterwards he took me aside and said, not unkindly, "I notice you're scrolling back through your history. I'm going to teach you something today kid. Try hitting ctrl+r then typing a subset of the command you want." 141

Daniel @danielransom.com · 02/03/2024I use copilot heavily and have for more than a year. I stopped using ChatGPT for coding but have since gone back. GPT4 is much better than copilot. I still use copilot for writing small pieces of code but I don’t use the chat and often fall back to GPT4 when I’m stuck. 010

Daniel @danielransom.com · 19/02/2024Yeah my pain eased up when I stopped typing so much but I’m nervous. I have a standing desk ordered but it’s still underway. Once I have that dialed in I want to see how I feel but I’ve been thinking about the split keyboard. I’ll probably ask you if it still helps after a month or two. 010
Daniel @danielransom.com · 19/02/2024I’ve been having it in my hands the last couple months. I think just because I’ve been spending more hours a day typing and my desk setup is not good. I’m switching to a standing desk. Important to take all the right steps but I think it’s a little bit inevitable for someone in our trade. 110
