New publication from us on the role of environmental attitudes and behaviour in relationships. TLDR; we like environmentalists as long term partners, particularly if we're environmentally-minded (and if we are, we do not like those that aren't!) bpspsychub.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/...

The roles of pro‐environmental attitudes and behaviour in mate choice
Introduction Previous research has shown that pro-environmentalism, as a signal of prosociality, can be a valued trait in mate choice. It is also predicted that perceivers' own pro-environmental tra.....

NEW - I asked the UK government if they had assessed energy demand/emissions resulting from plans to make the UK an "AI superpower". The analysis they pointed me to seemed... pretty implausible. Just 0.1m tonnes of CO2 a year. My calculations suggest emissions could be 100s of times higher.

As internet & AI use increases at a rapid rate we need to recognise the impact this has on the environment. In this JEVP commentary I argue we need to investigate and understand online sustainable behaviour so we can address this concern. authors.elsevier.com/a/1llSkzzKDP...

I'm hoping to get UG psychology students to complete preregistrations of their final year projects, anybody got any experience/advice? It will be for both qual and quant studies, and I want to keep it as simple as possible (i.e. not mandatory or assessed). Thanks!!

Possible causes of your problems. It’s a diagram that (sadly) still seems relevant in 2025, so reposting a year and a bit on.
Diagram titled 'Possible causes of your problems'. On the left hand side, subtitled 'Yes': Funding removed from local councils, growing gap between rich and poor, multinational companies not paying their taxes, lack of new affordable housing, government not investing sufficiently in schools and healthcare. On the right hand side, subtitled 'No': Picture of small boat, with arrow; 'People fleeing horrific situations that you and I can't imagine'.

Kurt Vonnegut man
Kurt Vonnegut tells his wife he's going out to buy an envelope:
"Oh, she says, well, you're not a poor man.
You know, why don't you go online and buy a hundred envelopes and put them in the closet?
And so I pretend not to hear her. And go out to get an envelope because I'm going to have a hell of a good time in the process of buying one envelope.
I meet a lot of people. And see some great looking babies. And a fire engine goes by.
And I give them the thumbs up. And I'll ask a woman what kind of dog that is. And, and I don't know. The moral of the story is — we're here on Earth to fart around
And, of course, the computers will do us out of that. And what the computer people don't realize, or they don't care, is we're dancing animals. You know, we love to move around.
And it's like we're not supposed to dance at all anymore."
