Bearded bloated guy stands in a hallway in front of slightly creepy/mildly inappropriate artwork, wearing a ghastly garish green plaid sport coat he & his father both wore for their highschool senior headshots.My9Albums in no particular order of importance (from top left on): Billie Holiday/Lady in Satin [Columbia, 1958]; Badly Drawn Boy/the Hour of Bewilderbeast [XL, 2000]; Willie Nelson/Phases and Stages [Atlantic, 1974]; Stornoway/Beachcomber's Windowsill [4AD, 2010]; Frank Sinatra Sings for Only the Lonely [Capitol, 1958]; Bette Midler/the Divine Miss M [Atlantic, 1972]; Falco/Einzelhaft [A&M, 1982]; Mutts/Object Permanence [MuttsMusic, 2013]; Elton John & Leon Russell/the Union [Decca, 2010].

Finally decided to get crafty & switch the dual-hour-hand off my '23 Bunn Special (that I sadly overwound back on Christmas Day) onto the 1915 16Size Illinois Bunn Jeweled Barrell that I've been carrying more frequently #TodaysTimepiece
Yellow-gold 16Size pocket watch with large arabic numerals on a double-sunk-enamel-face (also bearing "Illinois" in diminuative caps), showing a double-handed-hour-armature (red hand with diamond point arrow an hour earlier than the black/fire-blued-spade arrow) & a large second-hand-dial ar 6-o'clock. Watch is attached to fish-scale-like 5-fronded watch fob.Interior of watch case opened on reverse, showing the 19-jewel "jeweled barrel" movement & the Jugendstil motif with leaves & shamrocks on the back case.

This is the longest I've let my nails grow in a good 18 yrs--surprising for a nearly-lifelong-nailbiter. Maybe it's because this is one of the few aspects of my existence I can actually control...at any rate, it makes strumming strings a bit less painful
Left hand of bearded bloated guy spread slightly to show the beginnings of luscious nails. He is wearing an early-aughts yellow gold college ring on his ring finger ('cause arthritis & adipose now prevent it from being worn on the right); a late 1920s Jugendstil white gold ring on his middle finger (with an onyx-bordered 4-triangle-inlay of lapis & malachite, arranged in a repeating square pattern); & an early 1930s white gold Jugendstil band on his thumb (marked "Golden Wedding" to denote the repeating pattern of thistle leaves & orange blossoms).Right hand of bearded bloated guy spread slightly to show the beginnings of luscious nails. He is wearing a yellow gold 1972 highschool ring on the middle finger (with a rectangular onyx inlay onto which the golden head of Jas. Whitcomb Riley has been bolted; the design is flanked by "19" and "72" on either side in gold numerals over a deep midnight blue background); a mid 1920s yellow gold Jugendstil ring on his ring finger (the rectangular inlay of onyx, jasper, malachite, opal, lapis, & serpentine stones arranged in what looks like a Franz Marc painting being housed in a raptor-claw-looking-shank); & a simple black-cord with blue beads as a bracelet.

St. Paul's spire nestled into One World Trade (the shot I finally knew I'd understood the viewfinder) Thu.10Jan./'19; taken on Kodak Portra400 with a 1938 Kodak Junior Six-20 Series III
Light leaks abound as a neo-gothic spire nestles into the groove of Daniel Liebeskind's One World Trade on a frosty Manhattan morning where I had to move fast, before a security guard tried to come out & make me move away.

15-yr-old 6-panel-slouch-cap in blue & gold plaid, with pins arranged on the wearer's left. There's a crowned pink flamingo in enamel, with its left leg crossed; a 1956 red/white/blue button declaring "I like Ike and DICK;" a malachite-colored-pigeon ringed with scrolls saying "I will shit on everything you love" (a gift from my twin); a large gold-tone-elliptical-shaped-Jugendstil ND monogram (a replica of George Gipp's letter); a black round pin asking that you "pleaee use he/him pronouns" in gold; a post-war-enamel with the town of Innsbruck's Stadtwappen in red & black (the white has yellowed over the years); a rainbow heart; a blue dumptruck-ass with "NICE CHEEKS" overwritten upon it in gold caps (a gift from Uncle Dick's leather days); & a large Keith Haring "coming out day" square, showing a gold figure opening an orange door & emerging into a green room with reddish-brown-floor.

Readying for the walk home (George & Halsted Strs.), Thu.20.Sep./'18. Taken on Kodak Ektar100 with a Kodak Tourist II 620 (Canadian, ca. 1952), Kodet 12,5; original processing thru Central Camera Co., Chicago. #HappyAccident
Street- and vehicle-lights of varying construct (LEDs, incandescent, & c.) twirl over the night-darkened-corner of Halsted & George Strs., on a humid Chicago evening where just looking up the street shows the haze of a sultry evening. Dark orange brick commingles with the night, in a happy accident created by the photographer accidentally opening his shutter when he thought he'd closed it.

somewhere damn-near 24 yrs ago this weekend, I took the-Buddy-Dog (my family's pet which they adopted the winter previous, when I was overseas) to my dorm's Chariot Race dressed in a pillow case & 1950s fake plastic grapes. He got to eat more than his weight in pizza-crust, 'cause he was so cute...
In a blue 1990 Plymouth Acclaim sedan, a brown/tan/white Jack Russell terrier smiles on the passenger seat (wearing a white pillowcase festooned with red, pink,&green synthetic grapes that have been pinned to his ersatz toga) as his chauffeur (a tragically closeted college senior wearing a white twin-sheet & his str8-cheerleader-roommate's compression shorts, along with the same '50s fake grapes & Vietnam-era-shades) leans in to get started driving toward campus.

In front of an ancient tall oak seen across the street, an older man stands in the gateway of a chain-link-fence, balancing a tandem bicycle between himself & the fence as he jestures to something in the sky. A tall younger man in a baseball cap holds a canned beverage as he stands underneath a swingset frame, his body pointed toward the older man talking. Took my Dad's 2002 Ford pickup for a spin this afternoon to keep it mobile, & I found THIS accursèd object under the backseat. No idea why--but I'll ask when I get a chance...
Small segmented ceramic doll (likely late 19th or very-early-20th century) clad in a formerly white lace outer dress with an underskirt of cornflower-blue-silk. The doll is fabricated in 6 pieces [head, torso, arms, & legs], & the porcelain legs have red shoes painted upon them. The rouged bisque face has blue painted eyes, & a hole where a wig or bonnet had been formerly anchored. All body pieces were stitched together with twine--which remains surprisingly supple for having not only been in the doll for 120+yrs, but also having baked in the cab of a pickup truck for Christ-knows-how-long. Due to age, acid, & [likely] temperature, the doll's outer dress is a brownish-yellow.

Dad in his Christmas snuggie, Sat.25.Dec./'21. From first roll taken thru a 1932 Kodak Junior Six-20 [Series I; Nr. 0 Kodon (Kodak Doublet)] on Fuji AcrosII; developing & scanning by mee
Black-&-white-image of a man walking in a large light-colored hooded sweater on an asphalt street. The image is blurred, but you can still make out the smile on the man's face as he looks toward the photographer (whose shadow sprawls across his left foot onto the unseasonably-dry-Christmas-day-pavement). Behind the figure & shadow can be seen a brilliantly cloudless winter sky, registering as nearly white on the film stock.

Barnaby ("Mister Dog"), San Diego, Thu.06.Dec./'07. Taken on TMax400 with a 1999 Canon Z135; original processing thru Central Camera Co., Aug. 2018.
An ancient basset hound sits in front of a pet bed on a finely-woven oriental rug. his eye creases evince all 16 years of his long life; nevertheless, he played with the photographer as though he were a puppy, prompting his then-current-owner to remark "I haven't seen him this active since [current-owner's-late-other-half] was still around." Our "Mister Dog" lived almost another year before crossing that rainbow bridge. It was a distinct honor to be the last human to get to play with him like a puppy one more time, & I hope he enjoyed that week of grunts & nibbles & grumbles even half as much as I did.

Afternoon orchids, February 2023; Taken on AgfaColor Portrait160XPS (expired 2001) with a 1931 Baby Rolleiflex [uncoated--& badly-scratched--Zeiss/Jena Tessar 2,8]; rolling of 127 film, shooting, developing, & scanning by mee
Several assorted phalanopsis (with an anthurium & a giant peace lily in the background) have their blossoms illuminated by sunlight thru a house window. The yellows/purples/reds of the flowers are muted in their shades, owing to the age of the expired film & haze from scratches on the camera's lens. Also, a short streak of blue interrupts the lower 1/6th of the image plane (a consequence of my having accidentally misaligned the film when taping it down in the dark bag after cutting it from its 100-foot-roll).

A cloudy blue evening sky is interrupted by a large storm-scarred silver maple twisting next to a yellow caution sign reading "NO OUTLET." Tracing the curb backward, two small outdoor houselights burn yellow-orange against the dwellings' brownish brick.

Tall green pines frame a mildly cloudy blue sky, as a man dressed in a yellow golf shirt & gray-green-shorts drapes a towel around an ancient bronze sprinkler, in an effort to keep his brown leather workboots from becoming too waterlogged (the sprinkler's connection, some 90-yrs-old, is almost fully worn-out). In front of him, the brown of a sand trap snakes in front of the image, while behind can be seen a 1940s building that was set-up to be temporary--which the University has since poured over $10Million to keep from sliding into the lake. The grass--cut & watered by the same pictured guy--remains green.
