Very early #TidyTuesday for 2026 week 10 😂 Data: Cap-phrases, when someone says something is "likely", what probability do they actually mean? Code: github.com/rajodm/TidyT... #dataviz #rstats #ggplot2
Horizontal interval with dots chart showing the probability ranges assigned by survey respondents to 19 vague probability expressions, from
"Almost No Chance" to "Will Happen". For each row shows the 50%, 80%, and 95% intervals of responses alongside the median. Terms at the
extremes show more tight agreement while middle terms like "Realistic Possibility" and "Might Happen" show wide variation across respondents.

Hey #Rstats! What is your favorite #tidyverse way to turn a logical into a factor? I'm using `factor(ifelse(x, "Yes", "No"))`, but it feels a bit ugly, and `fct_recode()` doesn't work on logicals.

💡 Tips wanted! #RStats You're working on a package 📦 and improving a function. What's your development workflow? I usually put a minimal example in a helper file, so every time I run `devtools::load_all()` it loads my changes and shows their effect. But I wonder if there's a cleaner way to do it...

Hey #Rstats! Just discovered `testthat::describe()`, it seems so much cleaner and more structured than `testthat::test_that()` for organizing tests🤩 But… why isn’t it more common? Even tidyverse packages barely use it. Am I missing something?

Collider bias is the trickiest one of these—I use this example too: If the true relationship between niceness & appearance is zero but you only look at people you've dated (i.e. adjusted for that collider) you're missing a whole quadrant—the result is wrong and only valid for part of the population
Two scatterplots showing no relationship between niceness and appearance, with four quadrants: mean and attractive, nice and attractive, mean and ugly, nice and uglyA scatterplot showing the relationship if you only look at people you've dated—the mean and ugly quadrant is omitted and the slope is negative
