Coming this winter: Flyover Trash is a collection of trash and detritus from America’s flyover country. A photo zine that Henry Kissinger would bomb if he wasn’t dead. #FlyOverTrash #Photography

Cover of a book with a black and white photo of two men looking at a model plane. Pink text over the photo reads “Flyover Trash. Detritus from the middle.”

A handwritten sign lies below a hedge. It reads, “All I want is for morals, honer, and love for God and Country to be real again!”

Dead night calm over the back field, a yellow slab of window sitting on the grass. Craneflies tumble around the sitting room, dragging hair shadows across the walls. A sharp voice from down the hill in the wood, bouncing off the clouds up to our back door.

Having once been a teenager who would have made "Hur Hur they wear the wrong length of sports socks!" jokes about Out Of Touch Older People, it's strangely liberating to finally be an Out Of Touch Older Person who wears the wrong length of sports socks.

Wipeout was singlehandedly responsible for me getting back into home videogaming. I was part of the Spectrum/C64/Amstrad generation, but nothing for a long time after that - and then I saw Wipeout running in a shop in 1995 and was like "I need to play this."

Jim's thoughts are pretty much the same as mine - As ever with Tech In 2026, it's all about being a commodity machine. Whatever gets the most eyeballs must be "Good". Wondering if we scale this we basically end up with the infinite monkeys. But would we end up with Shakespeare or more Mr Beast?

A Jewish supper, as painted by an Italian, modelled in China, decorated with the flag of England. Portland, Sep 2026.

An arched church window. On a shelf is a small model of the last supper, and above it is a plant urn with miniature England flags stuck in it.

Made some prototypes over the weekend. 80 page sewn-in board notebooks, textured fabric break-away spine, with hand painted washi paper covers. Text block paper and boards are recycled. I only started making books a few months back, so I'm really pleased with these!

Two handmade notebooks with black fabric spine and ink pattern covers, sitting on a wooden table

A handmade notebook, looking down at the top edge where you can see the construction and breakaway spine.

Tonight at 10oclock - Sitting on the back step, breathing in cool night air and listening to the VERY NOISY OWLS in the woods across the field.

Light from a living room spills into a night time garden, onto a picket fence, apple tree and massive Cosmos plant that refuses to make flowers.

For any given post on the internet asking for advice about buying a specialist tool of some kind, there will be *at least* one person saying: "You can make this yourself easily. Just cut the shapes from wood with your CNC Router, 3D print the custom fixings..." Is there an "[X]'s Law" for this?

If you have to take out £50k in plan 5 student loans to go to University, and on finishing your degree are unable to make any repayments in the first 5 years, your debt is then £61k. How can I support my eldest in wanting to go, in that situation? Just the *interest alone* is over £2k per year.

I managed to catch 'Afterlife', an exhibition by Katie Paterson whilst it was on in Edinburgh - it's a collection of 200-ish small amulets, created with materials from endangered landscapes and fragile ecosystems and formed into cultural/spiritual iconography. Sharing a few powerful pieces below. 🧵

I grew up visiting Norwich castle - I can't wait to go and see what they've done. (Of course, as a kid I always made a beeline for the taxidermy, painted dioramas, mummified cat, and most of all the half-unwrapped ancient Egyptian mummified woman, who still had hair and teeth.)

Growing up the 80's, my perception was that if there was a country whose leaders wanted absolutely nothing to do with the far right, it was Germany. The Nazi years still in living memory, groups in that direction got stepped on, hard, by the government. But it's 2026, and here we are.

Started pairing up some "non-Museum" photo work from the last couple of years to explore ideas. The death of both my parents this year looms large over "Museum", so I'm trying to start making something that's not specifically about that. Not sure if I'll succeed - it still dominates my thoughts.
