Sir Ian McKellen orates 'The Stranger's Case' from 'Sir Thomas More' by Shakespeare about the Evil May Day xenophobic riot of 1517 in London. This passage was written 400 years ago, but times never change. Humanity refuses to change its unwarranted bias against 'others'.

Braverman blathering on about who can be English, Farage starting his me-me-me tour of the country telling audiences he’ll fix the country in 100 days or they’ll all sack themselves… apart from him… and Yusuf fanboying that racist thug who got refused bail… A moron festival. Come on, UK. Enough now.

The rush to speculate that asylum seekers are responsible for every crime in the news is a sort of opportunistic informational terrorism. Until it’s disproved it stokes fear and hatred. When it is disproved there are no adverse consequences and they know that they only have to be lucky once.

Burnham today v impressive. The idea itself, the scale of what is being proposed, the determination to push ahead despite how vulnerable it makes him, and the big fundamental point behind it all: that mainstream politics will only survive if it proves it can solve big problems.

The RNLI rescued Luftwaffe pilots in WW2 because the organisation is there to 'save life at sea' - it's something to be immensely proud of. But as I've said many times before Farage and Co don't seem to have pride in Britain and its institutions beyond flags and crap Enoch Powell said 60 years ago.

Piddington's independence ref is being presented as a quaint 'crumpets and muffins' comedy of plucky country folk. It's much darker and nastier than that and shows how deeply entrenched the bigoted 'fighting aged men on boats' narrative runs. Me for @noosphere.app www.noosphere.app/passport-to-...

In May of 1940 there was a mass panic in Britain - stirred up by the tabloid press - about 'fighting aged men' who had come to Britain as 'refugees' posing a threat to the women and children of this country - and essentially forming a 'fifth column' that could, at any moment rise up against everyone

Iceland is not in the EU, but it is a member of the Schengen area. It’s also a member of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) and is part of the Single Market, meaning it enjoys freedom of movement with the EU. Good to know that doesn’t impact their independence. Maybe we should try it, Nige.

A rescue operation is currently underway in Kryvyi Rih following a strike on a shopping mall.
There are many casualties. As of now, 14 people have been reported killed. My condolences to their families and loved ones. More than 100 people have been injured, among them 11 children. An absolute Russian atrocity. They're just monsters. We will definitely respond.
It is important that we have everything to protect life. It is important that the world does not remain silent about all this. There must be an end to this Russian war - and we need the world to help us make that happen. I thank everyone who is helping people right now - there in Kryvyi Rih, on the ground, and in our other cities and communities. Eternal memory to all those killed by Russian terror.
