Voluntarily severed ex-Professor of Bacteriology dabbling in creative things (music, images, writing [a silly children’s story & a sketchbook about old Lancashire towns]). From Chorley (originally). Might mention The Fall. craigwinstanley.online

Probably true. But even the later series were enough to amuse a 13 year old at the time.

Saw someone else asking what tv show meant most to you as a youngster. As a 10-16 year old, probably this (along with the records & later the films). I can’t possibly have seen the first series when it was first broadcast. I was only 8… Repeats, I guess (& the records/books).

Did we cancel D-Day because of a little rough weather? No. Play the damn game.

Readers added context

D-Day was delayed by a day because of the weather

5 October 1969. Monty Python’s Flying Circus was 1st broadcast on BBC1 at 11 PM. The comedy group were left to right: Terry Jones, Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Eric Idle, Terry Gilliam and Michael Palin. There were 45 episodes from 1969 to 1974 and 2 episodes for German TV.

The solution (allowing asylum seekers to work) is unworkable politically because we're simply too racist to allow that

I don’t like all of this but it does at least provide some balance. Without the investment whole areas of Manchester would not have been regenerated. Nobody else was going to put the money in, least of all the government.

And shame on the BBC for normalising this. BBC News has been turned into a right wing propaganda machine. Burnham needs to do something about it. Starmer, as always, was too cowardly.

I gave up watching QT years ago because they offered a season ticket seat (at least 1) to swivel-eyed far right racists. I see it hasn’t improved. She is being racist against herself (& others). I probably fit her definition of English but I don’t unite in any way with people sharing her views.

Blimey. That’ll add to the punishment. They’ll be demanding that all City fans attending future matches must purchase & wear replica hair shirts with ‘Cheat 114’ on the back, all proceeds to the United new stadium fund. Maybe they’ve already done that. I’ve been avoiding coverage…

The rush to speculate that asylum seekers are responsible for every crime in the news is a sort of opportunistic informational terrorism. Until it’s disproved it stokes fear and hatred. When it is disproved there are no adverse consequences and they know that they only have to be lucky once.
