I’ll keep saying this until I can’t: I can’t think of a demographic whose vote is more critical than those who are ward of the government being elected. And no citizen should ever be stripped of their vote. This is the greatest lever for accountability and reasoned legislation I can think of.

Landlord, Michael E Heijer accidentally CCed the entire Seattle city council, asking fellow landlords to testify against rental junk fee banning. Said renters who testified in favor of banning junk fees were the “unemployed left trying to stick it to the man.” Still think this isn’t a class war?

I wrote a similar one and sent it, but didn't cc anyone as I am not sure how they treat that.
I met with Lake Union Partners yesterday and they had a group of developers speaking in front of the Seattle City Council complaining about this item. They were a handful of people who spoke against it, and then the unemployed left of course had a whole bunch of people trying to "stick it to the man" as they want other people pay for their living accommodations.
Very sad.
So, Jack, Nevin et al please keep writing more emails to them so they know that we don't like this at all and keep some pressure on them

I've worked in Democratic digital comms for a long time and pay attention to campaign metrics across platforms. Increasingly I'm seeing Dems who crosspost on X, Bluesky, and Threads get better engagement on Bluesky even with far fewer followers. Here's @jamestalarico.bsky.social's clip last night:

It came as a bit of a surprise to me that Cornyn not only (a) drew a strong primary challenger, (b) lost the President's endorsement, & (c) lost the primary. For all intents and purposes he seemed to be a decent ally to the President in the Senate - it was only 2019 when Cornyn was #2 to McConnell.

John Cornyn's loss in Texas (the 1st for an incumbent Senator since 1970!) will make James Talarico's path to the Senate in Nov. just a little easier - polling says that AG Ken Paxton tends to poll behind Talarico - but flipping that seat will be an uphill battle either way.

Also in Texas, Julie Johnson and longtime Rep. Al Green both lost their seats in redistricting battles. The result in Green's case was surprising to me. The initial primary results had him and Rep. Chrisitan Menefee only 1.8 points apart, yet Menefee beat Green this week with almost 70% of the vote.

The President ended the careers of three multi-term incumbents: Bill Cassidy (LA), Thomas Massie (KY), and John Cornyn (TX). Chip Roy, a conservative firebrand in the House, running for Texas's AG position, likely suffered because the President chose not to endorse in that race.
