How isn't it a 'second Twitter situation'? I feel like it's a bit of a non-starter as it lacks various of the functions that Twitter used to have. And has mostly been a purity performance for those who love cancelling.

Red House Plymouth hosted Mark Thomas's gig a while back and it was good vibes there (and full)... There's also Devonport Playhouse (311 seats), though I've only seen musicals there. And 'The House' at Plymouth Uni will say 200 but it can do 300 if set out correctly. Hope you can come! :)

Extra push out to Plymouth? What's your ideal capacity? In the town centre we lack medium-sized venues - Guildhall (728) & Atheneum (340) are closed. Red House (300)? New Continental ballroom (350)?! I saw you at the Quad (398) but it's hard to get back from with no car (& you had taxi troubles)!

Shell is 100% Government funded in the UK. You pay all their wages, for all their Oil Rigs and all their tankers. But the fuel belongs to them. They really are laughing at you.

That's actually pretty funny. You should bring that one back! Mine are mostly just sayings from my northern dad, like "EEE yer might as well piss up a stick and play with the steam". Or punchlines no-one remembers the joke for, like "Time's up gentlemen, on your heads please".

Universal basic income ensures that everyone has the ability to express basic demand for basic goods and services. This is market improving. Markets can't differentiate between 0 and Ø. A store can fail because not enough customers. But is that because they didn't like it or they did but were broke?

We gotta try though! push push push! I'm trying to condition them by being relentlessly positive when they do something we would want XD. Starmer didn't even bother... The Greens aren't socialists anyway sadly. When they get in power they do normal mainstream party things just with an eco frill..

It's not the time mate. People only vote green in any numbers when there's not a viable left-wing alternative.

Basic human rights should not be conditional on one's ability or willingness to sell their labour. It's fucked up. every single fucking UBI study ever conducted has proven that UBI improves people's lives & lets them contribute to society *more*, not less. Enough with the fucking studies already!

This is also my problem with a job guarantee being seen as an alternative to basic income. What are you doing fighting for more comfy chains instead of freedom from being chained? Why toil for someone else with power over you instead of the right to look them in the eye and telling them to fuck off?

This seems so stupid (a) rich people are making more of the problem (b) poor people are more likely to have a caring approach to solving the problem (c) it costs more to 'save' a rich person ....

Following a tricky Pilates class, composed a cautious text asking about fanny farts to my mum (this was before the internet was around to ask such questions). No, I sent it to the odd job man who I'd met twice.

Paine's key insight: property comes in two kinds. Natural property (the earth, air, water) belongs equally to everyone by birth. Artificial property (what people build and invent) can be owned unequally. Basic income is our fair share of the first kind.

In 1797, Thomas Paine proposed a national fund to pay every person compensation for the natural inheritance lost when land became private property. That's basic income, two centuries before the term existed.
"To create a national fund, out of which there shall be paid to every person, when arrived at the age of twenty-one years, the sum of fifteen pounds sterling, as a compensation in part, for the loss of his or her natural inheritance, by the introduction of the system of landed property: And also, the sum of ten pounds per annum, during life, to every person now living, of the age of fifty years, and to all others as they shall arrive at that age." ~ Thomas Paine, Agrarian Justice 1797

It's really not. We have to understand the scale of the problem (in how most people are happy to treat most people) so as not to be complacent. Brutal things have happened throughout history, they are never more than a law away from disembowelling peasants to keep their feet warm

Two cats on a platformed tower. One is on the lower level, head hidden behind the middle section. The second is on the top tier with only their head showing.

Something hard to unsee: Imagine Earth has 100 people. 20 of them claim all the land. The other 80 have no choice but to work it, pay rent, give their means, just to survive. That's not an economy. That's a toll booth. UBI just returns each person their fair share of the commons.
