My friend sent me a card from Houston to The Netherlands. It took 30 days to arrive. Overseas voters need to pay to air mail ballots if you want them counted.

Trump says a lot of crazy stuff in his rallies but anyone pretending he just encouraged Iran to take out LA or San Diego is either being misled or actively misleading.

Why do people like to watch people talking? It makes no sense. Completely unnecessary. But a whole lot of evidence shows that people really like it.

Way better than drilling a hole in some sand and putting it on a ship assuming it could sail through a narrow waterway if some a-holes were not playing at war. Or just electrifying things and building solar. Yup. Tar sand is the future.

There's no real point in arguing with his mouth noises, particularly not when preaching to the Bluesky choir, but this is *noteworthy* nonsense. If the revenue were real (it's not), then it would be revenue *of the United States government,* equally available to a Democratic Congress to spend.

Seriously. Exactly what is the fraud here? Fake names paying additional premiums? However you look at it it’s money coming in from someone that doesn’t take any out. Seems they would be encouraging that. Maybe they are just mad the system works

There's a great line in Cormac McCarthy's All the Pretty Horses to the effect that all cowards betray themselves and their own principles first, and after that it becomes easy to betray anyone and everyone else. I think about that framing a lot in the Trump 2 era.

Wolfenstein was great but has not really done much for my German language skills. “Spion” and “Mien leben” are just not that useful when I travel there, but it’s all I can think of when someone talks to me.

Mike Johnson never has had any moral center. He has no love for any part of the Bible that doesn't include stoning. And Herrera is the R trying to replace the guy who cheated on his wife with a staffer he drove to suicide. This is who the GOP is.

Jared Kushner is not "on the other side of the aisle." He's not an elected official. He's not an administration official. He's the president's son-in-law and a private citizen. You do not, in fact, have to take meetings with relatives of the president. Some might even say you should *not* do that

And governments don’t support it. Europe, where there is a lot of theoretical support the governments can’t agree to subsidies that work and they frequently change the rules. Companies can’t invest because they have no certainty the subsidy will not get revoked without which they lose money.

BP is a great example. They went further towards renewable and green energy than any of their competitors and the market punished them harshly for it. To the point there was speculation they would have to sell. If the market doesn’t support change they will not change.
