It was truly a very fun season. Thank you, team. Tolle and especially Sonny should have been trusted to pitch into the sixth and seventh. Guys like them live for those moments. So do fans. Ride or die with the aces.

I lived in Chicago from ‘08-10. My girlfriend & I were exploring Lincoln Park & Lakeview, getting a feel for our new neighborhood. We stumbled upon a street that felt like another era. Wow, such amazing commitment to historical preservation. Later realized we wandered onto the set of Public Enemies.

So here's a quote from @pablo.show that applies to not only his Clippers investigation but the best of what journalism can be: www.nytimes.com/athletic/756...
"I think that we have the ability to do something that the rest of our culture is yearning for, which is make people who are too rich to care about anything resembling the public interest worry that maybe they need to tell us the truth."

I want to expand on this in a short thread. Fascism sucks. It is also not going away: it is an effectively permanent part of modern representative politics because it is an effectively permanent part of human nature. We have to be prepared to push back against it, basically forever.

With this ruling, the birthright issue is not going away. The right hasn't really begun *organizing* around getting rid of the citizenship clause. Like Roe, this will be their fight for a generation. And if the Democrats just say "we won" and ignore it, like Roe, the Republicans will eventually win.

It’s not simple. Four justices voted to overturn the Constitution. A complex disaster deserves a complex solution, and I look forward to you leading the way on SCOTUS reform. All these “we won” and “e pluribus unum” posts from Democrats today are an embarrassment.

That’s fair. Guess I was reacting to how tone deaf it seems that Obama lectures Democrats about reaching regular people, when his failure to reach these same people was a precursor to Trump and fascism. I find Obama out of touch. Springsteen is fine.

Thinking about this quote from Persepolis creator Marjane Satrapi again.
Picture of Marjane Satrapi alongside a quote from her. The quote reads:

The world is not divided into countries. The world is not divided between East and West. You are American, I am Iranian, we don't know each other, but we talk together and we understand each other perfectly. The difference between you and your government is much bigger than the difference between you and me. And the difference between me and my government is much bigger than the difference between me and you.

And our governments are very much the same...

The 90s teams were interesting. The Last Night of the Yankee Dynasty by Buster Olney is a really good book about those teams. The 1977 Yankees, all time fascinating. The 2004 Yankees, legends. Otherwise, yeah, the Mets are a lot more fun.

Also, may I say that I don’t agree with people saying ICE and CBP need “more training.” They’re doing exactly what this administration has trained them to—impose a reign of fear in blue cities. They don’t need more training. They need to be ripped up root and branch.

After MTG lied about me for weeks, she said that she felt bad for my unborn child because he'd have me as a mother. Her rhetoric led to threats against my family. No one, even her, should receive threats like those, but I'd like to see her own up to the role she played in creating them for others.
