if you're going to go for it, my advice would be: 1. do the degree that puts you in the least amount of debt (there are some entirely online programs and no one will care what school your mlis is from) 2. get as much library working experience as possible (this is what employers actually care about)

it's a real roll of the dice job prospect wise. i was lucky to get a good job right after my mlis 10 years ago, but had to move far. anecdotally, a lot of my classmates struggled to find work. most of the ones who did find good jobs had library work experience, luck, and were willing to relocate.
