The Muppets ARE the premise! Get a celeb to sing a song, fall off a ladder, kiss Miss Piggy, and that’s your format. Do that 12 times. You’re welcome

Important note‼️ If you or someone you know wants a free round trip ride to vote in Tarrant, contact them NOW to schedule. Drivers are volunteers and it makes a difference if they know what demand will be. Also note that drivers are voter allies. They are trained to help with questions and glitches!

Watched the 1988 Appointment With Death, and it’s excellent. I wonder though whether Agatha Christie named Jefferson Cope after the Sherlock Holmes character Jefferson Hope. Sounds too similar to be a coincidence.

Kohen Kartier Wiley is all our children. The indefensible is the default for police and LEO anti-blackness and it keeps getting worse. Murdering children is a global epidemic. Infanticide is all too common. Breaks my heart. Say his name, Kohen Kartier Wiley.

Granada Television made a Young Sherlock TV miniseries in 1982. It was called Mystery of the Manor House, and starred Guy Henry as a 17-year-old Sherlock. He meets Jasper Moran, brother to Sebastian Moran, and investigates a crime set up by Professor Moriarty. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Young_S...

On the What’s the Story, Wishbone? documentary, I saw someone claim it will air on June 1 at 7 pm in the DFW area. This does not currently show on my schedule, but my Tivo claims it will air on June 8 at 10:30 pm. To be safe, I will try both times and keep checking for updates. Be on the lookout.

@andrewhickey.500songs.com I was trying to reply to your posts on Elementary but it wasn’t working. I agree that the show had way too many murders. I thought, where’s the jewel robberies, bank robberies, identity scams, kidnappings? I was always disappointed when an episode ended up being a murder.

I find it interesting that Conan Doyle starts and ends the Holmes stories by linking them to real life: The battle of Maiwand in "Study in Scarlet" and August 1914, days before Britain declares war on Germany, in "His Last Bow." By referencing real history, he convinces people they are real

Watched the 1922 silent film of “Sherlock Holmes” starring John Barrymore. Though it’s based on Gillette’s play, this movie creates a backstory with Holmes and Watson as Cambridge students. Holmes dreamily journals “what is love?” He then falls for Alice Faulkner and meets old Moriarty on a case.

Sherlock Holmes is a fine religious figurehead: - effectively omniscient - far-fetched stories - beliefs always initially ridiculed, always turn out to be right - returns from dead - sufficiently large & confused canon (plus apocrypha) to find a quote that backs up any moral position you want

I liked this book "The Downstairs Girl" by Stacey Lee. I did not know before that Southern farmers imported Chinese labor to replace slaves after Emancipation. Also portrays how white feminists excluded non-white women from the suffrage movement. www.staceyhlee.com/the-downstai... #historicalfiction

Regarding Young Sherlock, it does bother me that they made Moriarty young when he ought to be a generation older, but I try not to nitpick adaptations lately. Think of every iteration as an alternate universe different from book canon (or don’t watch it if you prefer). Let them be their own thing

I’ve watched Young Sherlock. Without getting into spoilers, it’s entertaining and has a lot of women characters with depth and complexity. I like the princess and Sherlock’s mother. I still miss Watson though. Seeing Holmes be a terrible fighter who slowly learns is fun.

#ResistanceRoots #BlackhistoryMonth Today in history, 1872: Charlotte E. Ray becomes the first African American woman to earn a law degree in the U.S. She specialized in commercial law but was forced to close her practice due to racial and gender discrimination. /1

There are no surviving photos of Charlotte E. Ray, and no one is sure who made this drawing or if it even depicts her. There are several photos that come up in a Google search purporting to be Charlotte E. Ray, but they are much too modern to represent a woman from the 1870s. Some are easily recognizable as another person (e.g. Marian Anderson).

Was rewatching this 1994 movie and found a fun part. Holmes was cryogenically frozen and revived. He confronts a descendant of Moriarty who thinks Holmes is a descendant too. “I thought he didn’t have any offspring. My grandfather thought he was gay.”
