we will weave the earth this dress of time which
will outlast us, whatever remains will not remember

universe to listen. permission to pierce the vacuum of
space with our golden needle-arrow missive sailing
outward, permission to record our human voices singing,
saying hello in a thousand languages, permission to draw
our human bodies naked, to come down from the trees,
permission to dress up in plumage and colors, permission
to bear witness, permission to structure violence in
less damaging ways, ritual-dance, football, bake-offs,
permission to build the atheneum, the Thunderdome, the
viaduct, permission to kneel down in the shower in the
fluorescent light, the Bluetooth speaker keening softly in
the other room searching for its connection. I watch the
moon come up over the rise of the next hill and take a
picture with my smartphone. the dinosaurs were sentient;
