Joel @cpatchj.bsky.social · 07/08/2026I'm sure you'll block me on here now too. Which is fine. You don't know me at all, or know where my real life heart and actions land on things like trans rights. So goes people on the internet. I'll keep enjoying your great videos anyway. 100
Joel @cpatchj.bsky.social · 07/08/2026As if that word was there because I supported JKR's awfulness and not because it had simply just been there for years prior and was forgotten about. And then you even tweeted about blocking me. 100
Joel @cpatchj.bsky.social · 07/08/2026I was real amused at a talking point of this video being how people act on the internet considering you once blocked me on Twitter right after I followed you, solely because I had the word "Hufflepuff" in my bio. 100

Reposted by JoelNicole @nicoleintheforest.bsky.social · 17/08/2025I remember standing next to Mom as she rummaged through our dark wood cabinets to find her tupperware mixing bowl. She'd work flour and cream into a sticky dough she'd then drop by spoonfuls into simmering chicken and vegetable stew. The dough would puff up into soft, shiny steamed dumplings. 1/6 141

Joel @cpatchj.bsky.social · 09/06/2025Anyone who is watching the #Tonys and enjoyed that performance from Buena Vista Social Club - I highly recommend listening to the 1996 same-titled album that inspired it. It features legendary Cuban musicians brought together to play traditional Cuban standards, and it's fantastic. 0122
Joel @cpatchj.bsky.social · 07/06/2025I've never watched the Tonys, and I feel like this is a reason to change that. 110

Joel @cpatchj.bsky.social · 27/05/2025Today I watched the 1954 sci-fi classic movie Them! about giant radiation-mutated ants. The ant scientist that advises the government is played by Kris Kringle from Miracle on 34th Street. I love that. 110

Joel @cpatchj.bsky.social · 19/05/2025And then a bunch of accusations of cyberbulling came out against her. Of course she disputed all of this. Who knows if she really did plagiarize or bully, but from what I remember, the evidence was pretty damning. When she got a publishing deal, those stories all got wiped from the internet! 3/3 100
Joel @cpatchj.bsky.social · 19/05/2025And then came all of the plagiarism accusations. Lots of them, but the biggest being from a published author of an old obscure fantasy series that she seemed to take major plot devices from. 2/3. 100
Joel @cpatchj.bsky.social · 19/05/2025Haha, gladly. It was a big part of my "very online" high school years. At the time, she was the most popular author in the fandom by far. Her trilogy of novel-length fanfiction created several major tropes that the community/other authors adopted as canon. 1/3 100
Reposted by JoelNicole @nicoleintheforest.bsky.social · 18/05/2025So often we get told that being a parent is what invests you into the future of the world, but over and over so many people have committed to making the world better and better for generations to come even though they had no children of their own. Dr. Fischer cared. 091
Joel @cpatchj.bsky.social · 19/05/2025Oh man. Every couple of years, I re-encounter the fact that CC is a famous author, which gives me so much glee, as I know her from insane drama in the Harry Potter fanfiction community 25 years ago. I always wonder if fans of her published work know about that stuff or if it's just too niche. 100

Joel @cpatchj.bsky.social · 08/05/2025I don't recall learning about this in school - if I did, perhaps it is just more meaningful to me now. It's always encouraging to be reminded that in bad times where bad things happened, there were still people - my people - relatives, southerners in general - that were on the right side. 4/4 130
Joel @cpatchj.bsky.social · 08/05/2025In fact, there was around 100,00 white southern soldiers that fought for the Union. Tennessee was the southern state with the most amount of Southern Unionists, but all but one southern state had regiments of white troops that fought on the side of the Union. 3/4 120
Joel @cpatchj.bsky.social · 08/05/2025A little confused, I did some googling and confirmed that there was several white infantry regiments from Tennessee that served in the Union Army. I continued to dig, and found the term "Southern Unionist" - southerners who did not support secession or slavery. 2/4 120
Joel @cpatchj.bsky.social · 08/05/2025While working on my family tree this morning, I came upon a great-great-great uncle whose name was on a registry for headstones provided by the government for deceased Union Civil War Veterans. I looked at the document, and it indicated his unit as "Tennessee Infantry". 1/4 131
