the thing i love most about King is that he occasionally lapses into truly bonkers phrasing (especially in dialogue) in a way I've never seen Rowling do. Out of all the monsters that have come out of DnD, the Aberration class of monsters are probably its strongest design-wise. Mimics are gray and so are beholders.
