Most of Europe, Australia, Canada and other places have had this for years. Scotland's scheme was good and would have worked. WM simply couldn't bear the idea of Scotland being more progressive and advanced than England. That's it. No other practical, financial or ideological argument exists.

Definitely a thing. I get motion sickness quite easily. EVs are much worse. I put it down to "full torque from zero revs" and the relative jerkiness that this can mean from folk who like to use their accelerator pedals a lot. Interestingly, Mercedes at least seem to have designed for this /-
