Comics workers! We need YOU to contribute to this survey! Beyond page rates & advances, we also ask about con revenue, Kickstarters, subscription platforms, & more! To make positive changes in our industry, we need to better understand challenges faced by traditional & self-published cartoonists!

a lot of white queers don't understand what whiteness is, and that makes much of their interactions with queer folk of color suck, so I'll explain a little. The two facets of whiteness that are most important in this context are that it is a social and legal exemption from racial oppression.

Closing out Summer with a surf session ☀️ 🌊 My OC, Soledad helping out her bestie, @cosmicsynapse.bsky.social's Symone, before enjoying popsicles~ (mango con chile for Sol and blood for Symone)

Illustration of a darkskinned woman with her hair tied up balancing on a surfboard and helping a her vampire friend with braids partially up in a bun that fade from black to silver. They grin at each other. A polaroid is stuck to the image, featuring Sol with a mango chile popsicle and Symone with a blood pop--they have their hair down and look at Sol with a sharp teeth prominent. Both are holding out their popsicles. A wolf and bat with sunglasses stickers hold the polaroid that has "Summer with Symone" written by Sol and a 20XX date.

If your webcomic is maxing out at three or four panels per page, you're wasting everyone's time—most importantly, your own. Comics don't need to be maximally dense (a valid criticism against *me*, in fact), but each page should attempt to tell a micro-'story' in itself.

If SCREEN were to pass, you'd be required to scan your face and upload an ID to access this site because it allows "harmful" material. This affects you even if you don't care about sex work or porn.

Artists: if your hand/arm/shoulder hurts, take a break! Speaking from experience; If you don’t, you’ll do damage to yourself and eventually be out of commission until it heals. Also hold your utensils with a lighter grip. :p

For anyone who has always wanted to make a comic but has never managed to, I recommend trying a four-panel manga. You don’t need to plan out a long story... It can be completed with just one witty twist!

if you are like me and have absolutely no other ideas except for the big one, starting with a 'pilot episode' chapter is a good bet - a single story that encapsulates the vibe of the whole plot in miniature before you commit to the long haul, finish that chapter and see how you feel

Our most important advice: If you have never finished a comic before: Make a comic less than 30 pages before starting a large one. I literally cannot stress this enough.
