Carrie’s lack of culpability is kinda the point. She’s abused and mentally destroyed to the point where she snaps and develops powers. That’s always been the point. Carrie isn’t lovable. Carrie is a tool to tell a story and it’s her story. You’re meant to empathize until a distinct point.

responding sincerely to this even though i don't think you meant it that way. my answer is no, not really. or, well, not on its own in my universe of what paying respect to someone (in this case a woman, but anyone too) means (literally 'looking again' in latin).
i'm not saying expression of desire is bad, i get overwhelmed by it sometimes. being openly, joyfully desirous can be lovely. but there's a way of doing it narrowly which makes seeing another person about yourself, flattening them in the process. i don't want you not to want, but to want *bigger*.
a bigger wanting in your whole being that can coexist with another person's sovereignty instead of overriding it with your lust in a narrow, self-directed focus that makes someone a thing to possess. a wanting so big that you cannot contain it; so big it cannot be held by you for even a moment.
i want you to *see well*. i want you to see women and look again a second time (pay respect) and a third, past the point where your initial impression dissolves. i want you to attend to the women if your life for an uncomfortably long time, and come back to that attending again and again and again.
in seeing well i want you to be seeing what is put on offer for you her, seeing of her what she would endorse, and not just seeing what you wish to take from her. i want you to see in her what she would give you to hold with care and reverence and admiration.
and in loving well i want you to be unmade by her, and to suffer—truly suffer—in the realization that someone other than yourself is as real as you are. in loving well i want you to scream and laugh and cry in agonizing delight that there's someone real in front of you who you can never fully know.

Two young Navajo women in traditional and 1900's clothing ride a sled down a hill, collapsing in a heap on the snow covered desert land, the clouds of snow turning into the skies above in one image drawn with ink, and colored digitally. The taller woman is Hozho, a young Navajo weaver with dark brown hair done up in a tsiyeel, traditional Navajo hairstyle, with a blue and white color scheme of a cape over a white button up shirt, and a long darker blue skirt. Her companion and lover is Yanabah, a shorter Navajo woman with dark hair and darker skin, wearing a purple velveteen dress. Hozho is enjoying the sleighride while Yanabah holds on for dear life. At the bottom of the image, the words HOZHOOGO NINDOOHAH! are there, reading, translated into English, "HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU!"

A comic page featuring the mentioned young Navajo women: they are lovers. The next panel, she sneezes. The following panel she covers her face, shy. The second to last panel, her face is held tenderly by her lover, as Yanabah blushes and Hozho says, "Yes...it's very cold." The last panel, she has a teasing smile on her face and asks, "Should we go home?" to which Yanabah yells, steam coming out of her head, "YES!".
