Fresh off the press: an article I co-authored with the excellent colleagues Rosa Runhardt, Jon Williamson, and Dennis Beach, in which we argue that meta-ethnography can (and should) play a central role in evidence-based policy. link.springer.com/article/10.1...

Meta-ethnography and policy effectiveness: an Evidential Pluralism perspective - Synthese

Everyone used the available theories to explain concrete situations in a relevant way, often finding unexpected dimensions of the cases. Most participants seemed to find decision theory very useful as a tool for reflecting about the own professional practice.

The results were simply amazing. All participants were new to the content, and all wrote interesting, well-articulated, and insightful analyses, often referring to their professional experiences.

They were then required to hand in an assignment discussing the case in relation to the literature and the possible advantages of decision theory for the teacher's profession.

I put together a short primer (Decision Theory for Teachers), which was so much fun, and organized a seminar in which the participants had to discuss fictive cases, build a decision matrix, and discuss which decision heuristics and biases could influence a teacher's decision in that case.

Typically, CogSci courses for teachers focus on students' cognition, but I decided to include a module on professional decision-making. This module includes (among other things) classic discussions of heuristics and biases and of the role of affect and narratives in professional decision-making.

I have started teaching a couple of courses in cognitive science for teachers. The course participants are, for the most part, currently working as teachers (mostly K-12, with some HE teachers).

The search for meaningful hypotheses by exploratory experimentation isn't automatic or haphazard. Most experiments aren't driven by given hypotheses but they are aimed at identifying them instead. But they're not obtained by any process resembling a fishing expedition (like post hoc data dredging).
