Songwriting tip; if you’re procrastinating on finishing a tune that you know is solid, accept an offer to record it to 2” tape in front of a recording class in 72 hours. I sat down and finished it in 2 hours today. Now I have two days to edit, refine and learn how to sing it. To tape, for real.

I saw #CheapTrick on the tour after Budokan blew up, so was about 10 years old. It was absolutely awesome and I have seen them many times since. I am seeing them tonight in New Hampshire and expect to feel 10 years old again.

I just saw my pal Aaron Tap play with Colin Blunstone of the Zombies and there is absolutely no logical explanation for how wonderful Colin’s voice sound at 81 years old. He didn’t play “Caroline Goodbye”, which is one of the best records ever, but it was a great set.

Excellent book reading and short acoustic set with @robynhitchcock.bsky.social tonight in Boston. I was chuffed to share a hard drive with new album while recording at Alex the Great in Nashville last year and, at that point, I had no clue how great it was. Robyn is the best.

Upon further and continued viewing, I deem David Bowie’s Glastonbury appearance from the early 2000’s to be quite compelling. Some of the tempos detract from the musicality, but the overall performance is excellent and his voice is 100% fab. Also, the hair is magnificent.

One time, my band The Pills did a show with Shake Appeal at Brownies and we had the misfortune of the Beastie Boys hitting the stage nearby at an outdoor festival around the time of our sets. They did the whole enchilada for us and one bartender- threw picks out and jumped around.
