The solutions to traffic violence is complicated, as they are all filtered through politics. But a lot of the opposition to speed cameras isn't all that complicated. Much of it, though not all, boils down to people thinking speeding is no big deal when *they* do it.

A reminder that the people we have in charge are either the most irresponsible people imaginable or the most cynical. We have governments of all levels doing nothing on climate change in the midst of unprecedented climate disaster. All for the short term benefit of a few.

The Canada men's team had a great tournament. Obviously disappointed in the loss today, but there's a lot to be proud of and this is a big step for the team.

The average Canadian can consume less fuel too. Walk, bike, use transit. Maybe trip chain a bit more. We don't all need to be addicted to consuming fossil fuels.

My understanding is that this particular collision wouldn’t have been physically possible if the pilot project had been installed last summer as planned. The bike lane isn’t just about making Wellington safer for bikes, but for all users.

"These reductions translate into dramatic improvements in survival rates, with the chance of a pedestrian surviving a collision rising from about 10 per cent at 50 km/h, to 60 per cent at 40 km/h, and 90 per cent at 30 km/h." 30% increase in survival is more than enough to consider 30 not 40 kph.

Proposal to reduce Winnipeg’s default 50 km/h speed limit advances. We need to keep our eye on the prize. 30 kph is the true "safe speed." It is true that “it takes… seconds more to go 40 versus 50." Is also only takes seconds to go 30 as well. @safespeedswpg.bsky.social t.ly/-1Etq

Gutless moves from some of our councilor's at Public Works day. The inconvenience of drivers is more important to them than the lives of vulnerable road users. 30 seconds is more important than one soul. This really hurts. Wellington cr. pilot could have happened in a few months but oh no.

Advocating for safer streets is characterized as "radical" from two #winnipeg city councillors who are both well beyond the Best Before Date. you know this council isn't used to an engaged and informed segment of the citizenry, holding them accountable, when they resort to name calling.
