Very cool that multiple government agencies have created chaos that ensures that will I will have to cancel my year end PTO (which means forfeiting it) but also work through federal holidays.

Let’s be clear. We know what this “investigation” will find. There is no mystery. This is an attempt by doctors who were wrong about everything to rewrite the history of the pandemic so they can claim victory. But they overhyped vaccines in 2021.👇 sciencebasedmedicine.org/overhyping-v...

Overhyping Vaccines Wasn’t Pro-Vaccine. It Was Pro-Stop-Worrying-About-COVID.
Overselling the vaccine in 2021 was not being pro-vaccine.  It was pro-stop-worrying-about-the pandemic, from the doctors who assured us herd immunity was imminent.

Everybody thinks they're so clever. 1. Not all mothers remain negative, especially unvaxxed ones 2. Contact with other household members can cause infection 3. At daycare, too, if exposed to a chronically infected child 4. And chances of there being such a child just got higher

No. No it can’t. At least not accurately. And we should think LONG & hard about what it means to “diagnose” something you have no intention of bringing resource to treat. Through eye scans. That could be collected without someone’s express consent. This version is a recipe for weaponized med tech.

During promotional visits for her perfume lines, Taylor would quietly visit AIDS hospices. In San Francisco, she asked patients “if she could arrange to have their dogs walked; she asked if she could call their mothers for them or write letters for them.”

ALL you have to do is just not use it, tell these companies you aren't using it, and make fun of people who do. We need a mass collective effort to make genAI extremely uncool, lame, embarrassing, cringe. Everyone needs to react to it with a MOUNTAIN of hostility until they run out of steam.

Alice Wong was one of the few who actually left the world better than when she entered it. A lot of the obituaries are leaving out her work on Covid, her advocacy around masking, and her work on eSims for Gaza. I tried to capture some of that in a post on IG. www.instagram.com/p/DRIN0Fnkuz...
arghavansallesmd: Alice Wong was, among other things, a force of nature, a writer, an activist, a MacArthur genius grant recipient, and a fierce warrior for disability justice. She spent much of the last few years advocating for masks and raising awareness of Long Covid. She also co-founded eSims for Gaza, which has raised over $3 million so far to help people in Gaza communicate with the outside world. But you won't read about that in most of the obituaries about her.
I'm sharing here some of her tweets about why masking was so important to her and how hard she had to fight, even in the hospital, to get people around her to mask.
Those tweets are from a hospitalization in January
2024. Ever since her tracheostomy, she could no longer protect herself from respiratory infections. Like many people, she depended on her community to keep her safe. According to her family, she passed away Friday from an infection.
Aside from her work on Covid and eSims, she was best known for the Disability Visibility Project and her books, Disability Visibility, Disability Intimacy, the in-progress Disability Vulnerability, and her memoir, Year of the Tiger. She had a column at Teen Vogue on disability visibility, and she also voiced a character on Netflix that was based on her. Alice did what so many of us aspire to do-she left the world a better place than when she entered it.
I never had the honor of meeting Alice. Like millions of other people, I followed and was inspired by her work. I hope you'll read these slides as a tribute to her and her efforts to build community. I hope you'll wear a mask in public spaces. I hope we'll care for ourselves and those around us the way Alice would have wanted us to. Her GoFundMe remains active and will go toward continuing her work, if anyone would like to contribute.

In reality, Catholic hospitals make up as much 46% of options in some states. This map is 2020, prior to Trump’s assault on safety net hospitals.

She was extraordinary, and extraordinarily generous. Alice Wong: I am so grateful to have been alive in her lifetime. She was one of our species' best. She deserved better. My her legacy be for a blessing.
A quick sketch of Alice Wong, an extraordinary writer, editor, organizer and disability revolutionary. She's beautiful, middle aged, leaning against a power chair headrest, with a ventilator tube attached to a tracheotomy at her throat. wearing vivid purple and a bright red lip. I tried to capture the expression she often wore of joy mixed with an inner amusement and determination.
