“Find some fucking hustle.” No. One day you will be dead and you will not get the high score for doing the most. Do enough and let yourself off the hook for the rest.

Sun kissed
A big orange cat sits on a side table. Light from a nearby window highlights just the edge of his fur, giving him a fuzzy golden outline.

Your neighbor is outside in the dark doing a lot of stuff with an electric saw and duct tape. Do you: A. Ignore it. It’s probably not a body, let’s not get the cops involved. B. Ignore it. It’s probably a body and you don’t need to get yourself on a murderer’s shit list.

Real questions I have asked my cats this week: “OK, who started it?” “Could we compromise on still attacking my foot at 3 a.m. but reducing the claw involvement?” “Are you huffing paint?” And the classic: “Why are you sticky?”

Room for Rufus?
An orange cat lies atop a grid of cardboard cards laid out on a bed in preparation for playing a game. He’s looking intently at the camera, like he wants you to invite him to play.

This game is great, and I enjoyed it even more when I realized there is an option (in the settings under “gameplay”) to turn off the cat’s death animation, so when you die the screen just fades to black.

In Boston, U-Haul roofs are like teeth: not covered by your regular insurance.
A sticker on a dashboard says, “Be aware of garage clearance! 7ft-2in clearance required. Customer will be charged for all roof damage. Roof damage is not covered by collision damage waiver.”

Just found an Easter egg on Wikipedia! On the page for double dactyls (a type of poem), there's a sentence that's formatted as a normal line of text, but it's actually a stanza of double dactyl poetry! And... THE PLOT THICKENS! 1/2
Screenshot of the Wikipedia page for “Double dactyl.”The text reads:
The double dactyl is a verse form invented by Anthony Hecht and Paul Pascal in 1951.

An example by John Hollander:
Higgledy piggledy,Benjamin Harrison,Twenty-third presidentWas, and, as such,Served between Clevelands andSave for this trivialIdiosyncrasy,Didn't do much.

Metapoetically, Roger L. Robison crafted this poem describing itself:
Long-short-short, long-short-shortDactyls in dimeter,Verse form with choriambs(Masculine rhyme):One sentence (two stanzas)HexasyllabicallyChallenges poets whoDon't have the time.

There’s then an annotation noting that the text “Metapoetically, Roger L. Robison crafted this poem describing itself:” works as the first stanza of a double dactyl poem.

Even scammers can fall into the dreaded find-and-replace trap! Presumably last month they were sending fake recall notices about a “May 2026 purchase,” so when they updated to June, they hit “replace all” and wound up regretting “any inconvenience this June cause.”
A series of texts from a scammer pretending to be a recall notice. It starts with “This notice concerns an item in your June 2026 purchase history.” After some stuff about safety and a redacted link to their scam site, it says, “We recognize any inconvenience this June cause.”

There’s a bug on the lampshade and we’re definitely making good decisions about it.
A big orange cat is balanced precariously on the narrow wooden arm of a chair and looking straight up into a lamp. His whiskers are highlighted by the light and he has a little nubbin of a tail.

Strongly endorse getting a little weird-tail guy into your house.
An orange cat stands in the deep basin of a kitchen sink. He has a little nub of a tail, only a few inches long, sort of like a bunny’s tail.

I would kill or die for Larry
A small operation in Oregon that hunts truffles with a trained dog has added an unpaid trainee. A cat named Larry accompanies the handler and the truffle dog into the woods every outing, works a patch of ground a little apart from them, and digs with tremendous confidence in places where there is nothing.
The handler says Larry has never found a truffle and shows no sign of understanding the assignment. He does not use scent the way the dog does and he does not respond when the dog makes a find.
He simply digs his own holes nearby and then inspects them. "He thinks he's on the team," the handler said. "He is emphatically not on the team."
