you can totally get spy cameras that are smaller but they don't do anywhere near as much, or require some kind of external wire to battery pack. if you look at google glass (built on 15 year old tech) i would wager heavily the volume is exactly the same. maybe less?

eh, can't get a camera lens too much smaller and retain functionality, needs a fairly substantial battery, needs a radio since all the processing is handled remotely so bluetooth, wifi, a SoC to process it all and something to cast display onto the lenses. i think you're about at the limit
