Hats off to the Lincoln KOLN CBS affiliate for their investigative reporting and live reveal of the redacted “trade secrets”.

Pay attention Nebraska. #DataCenters are not a good deal for anyone but the companies selling compute power and Gov. Pillen’s blue ribbon panel of cronies who stand to make a tidy penny building them.

At any rate, that’s a lot. And trade secrets? Get the fuck out of here. Water use and electrical demand aren’t trade secrets, they’re public utilities.

Whoever redacted the PDF just drew black boxes over the relevant text, leaving it accessible to cooy and paste. Finally numbers: * Greater than 25 MW of power at peak * 13 Mgal of water. Mega? Million?

Google finally filed its data center report for the Lincoln, NE center today. They claimed the peak power and water use were “trade secrets” and redacted the PDF. Except..,

Learning to play an instrument (badly) and taking up a martial art (BJJ, also badly) have been good things for growth and focus. It’s the right kind of frustrating.

I’ve been more intentional learning to play a few songs this year on bass. Tonight I started learning Doll Parts by Hole. It’s not too bad so far but has swing to it that you have to play a few different ways until it starts to feel right.

Problem solved
Those documents argue systems were exposed and some information was withheld; they are not the same as a completed official finding that 2020 vote totals were switched or that the certified result was reversed.

Bottom line: Federal assessments after 2020 found no evidence that foreign actors or voting machines changed the outcome. Isolated fraud cases exist. Later White House releases dispute how much risk and data compromise were disclosed. I cannot verify a government finding that the 2020 election was stolen.

Lol. America’s “super intelligence” is fun. The answers seem to depend on how you ask the question. 😂 Ask, “Is Trump in the Epstein files?” Get nothing. Ask, “How many times is Trump mentioned in the Epstein files?”

Can the president use taxpayer funds to air his old campaign ads on TV?

No. Federal appropriations law has long barred using taxpayer funds for political advertising.

Eastern Nebraska is getting a lot of “interest” in building data centers in rural areas along I-80 and major north/south US highways. One decently large Google center north of Lincoln. Two, possibly three more in the planning and acquisition stages. One reportedly will need 2+ gigawatts of power.

Data centers across the United States being built to power AI require far more electricity because of the powerful chips inside. That’s pushing construction into rural areas, where costs are lower but still near fiber internet lines. wapo.st/4ykQ3kC

#ResistanceRoots The fight for universal healthcare may seem like a relatively recent phenomenon, dating from President Truman’s failed proposal for a national, publicly funded health insurance system in 1945. However, the fight goes back to the 1910s, and it’s linked to anti-labor forces. /1
President Truman addresses a joint session of Congress. On Nov. 19, 1945, Truman sent a groundbreaking Special Message to Congress recommending a comprehensive national health program. His five-part strategy included constructing hospitals and health centers, expanding public health services, investing in medical research and education, providing cash benefits and disability insurance to workers, and prepaid national health insurance. The American Medical Association launched a campaign against it, condemning the plan as “socialized medicine” and comparing it to communism during the early years of the Cold War. By 1946, “conservative” Repubs controlled both houses of Congress and blocked the bill. Truman tried again with subsequent messages to Congress, but the legislative effort ultimately failed. Truman later called this defeat the most troubling disappointment of his presidency. Photo credit: Harry S. Truman Library.
