Blowing things up, kidnapping and killing foreign leaders, is good because it's Doing. Considering the consequences of Doing would be Thinking, which is weak and woke

The confusion and conflation of ‘generative ai that is built on stolen artwork’ and ‘machine learning, character behaviour modelling and proc gen’ is intentional on the part of the grifters peddling the former. They benefit from murkiness of classification, because the latter predates their bollocks

My ongoing gamedev side quest is to see how many games I can make that do not feature a currency system. They are obviously very effective for many reasons, I just feel like they put a damper on creativity for coming up with other kinds of reward systems.

Wanted to share a behind the scene shot from the filming of SPELLHACK!!'s video assets, featuring: some overkill equipment choices.

A cinema camera on a tripod pointing at a desk set with lighting equipment surrounding.

Players have been asking for the ability to filter out games made with Gen AI. We've added an automatic tag on SteamDB based on the AI gen content disclosures on the store pages.

Reddit screenshot:

[Steam] Players are requesting to be able to filter out games with GenAI

300+ comments on that topic and it seems almost everyone agrees. Will see if Steam adds the options, but I would appreciate it both as a dev and a player!

SteamDB screenshot of the AI tag page:

This tag identifies games where developers have disclosed the use of generative artificial intelligence anywhere in their product or marketing. SteamDB applies this tag automatically when the specific AI generative content disclosure statement appears on a game's Steam store page. It applies regardless of whether AI was used in the game itself or just for marketing assets. Games receive this tag based solely on the presence of Steam's required disclosure text.

Haven't seen many devs take advantage of this. While you wait to be eligible for a Steam Deck compatibility check from Valve (if you ever get one), you can link to an announcement and have it show up as clickable "Developer Comments" under the "Unknown" compatibility box.

HUGE thanks to @thegamedoctor.bsky.social for the seminar! Can't overstate how helpful it is to have someone removed from a project swoop in and take a critical, thoughtful look. More so when they stream full time and they are constantly noting trends and innovations and can pass that along to you.
