A figure sculpture wearing a hooded top and shorts balances on the thin support cables of a pedestrian bridge at night. The bridge deck below is illuminated with vibrant red light, which reflects onto the sculpture and the metal support cables. In the dark background beyond the bridge, city buildings and a glowing blue and red tower are visible against the night sky. It a sculpture by Polish artist Jerzy "JotKa" Kędziora.

and if you really like AI so much you'd be really in to proper ML and looking at some of the befits this can bring to various aspects of the world and actually improve lives. But instead it appears that most people who "love AI" love the idea of being lazy, or being able to call themselves creative.

If any of the big #AI lovers on here who haven't blocked me for being so "anti AI" could pop by and answer some questions..I'd love that. Because I'd love to know how you can justify some of the LLM slop generated particularly when it comes to "instruction". Oh boy does it just give BS.

prep'd an email to send to my SL & IT teams in the morning regarding a number of concerns and issues with the IT labs and network. Just petrified to send it as I'm sure they'll think I'm out to cause trouble.

Another fucking weekend wasting my time with fucking Microslop 365 and some other bullshit school management system that was never designed for anything other than language schools (and yes they do run differently). So fucking tired of tech today and that makes me feel so old.

I like my current school, it does a good number of things right (or at least seems to) but technology isn't one and neither is employing enough IT/computing teachers. It's so tiring working in a department of 1. Even more so I now cover all groups from year 5 to 13.

Fucking hell Blues. Yet again looking to be the side on top and then go and let them score. Do the players know that to score the ball has to go in that space between the posts, and the crossbar and the ground?

Trying very hard not to be angry at every fucking thing. So watched 2nd episode Taskmaster Polska tonight on TVN. Again, not understanding a thing I still very much enjoyed it. Love the taskmaster and his assistant. Big names here I believe. Tonight we saw the exotic sandwich task. Yum!

Watched the first episode of Taskmaster Polska tonight. My Polish is piss poor so no idea what was being said but loved the show. The taskmaster and assistant relationship looks like it'll be fun. Looking forward to next week!

Why are schools still kitting out IT rooms/labs with Microslop Windows? And no, going MacOS isn't a better solution.

Have started a new job and am trying to be positive about it, though as I've expanded my teaching down into primary and teaching every year group to the end of a level all I can think is "report time will be hell!" Leadership seems ok though and school seems nice enough.

I cannot begin to count the amount of technology tools I have been told in the last 20 years that I need to teach my students how to use because they were the future. 95% of them are gone. A tool is a tool.

Similar boat here. Used to teach OCR nationals which included things like the use of templates and macros. All the positive examples of AI seem to be about doing things our software already does. Plus it's use as everyone's go to knowledge base is worrying.

It is why IT literacy and study skills are still important despite having a computer that "can do it for you". And believe me I am far from being anti tech and have spent years working on and with tools for automation and improving efficiency. These LLMs (alone) are not doing that.

Whilst you are correct in that shit it does cite Wikipedia, unless you check that out yourself and read the article you cannot be sure that it is correct. In this case it is but it only looks at a small, limited viewpoint i.e. searching for the phrase queen of England which is a specific title.

Yet there is always money available to bail out business or for councils to waste more money cancelling events etc than spent on actually running them.

Why is it that when it comes to 'fixing' issues that effect most people, with those further down in the bullshit societal pyramid usually hit hardest, the result usually involves lots of convoluted ideas of programmes and initiatives and little money.

CompSciSi @compscisi.bsky.social · 01/08/2026
Yep, that is what happens when content is generated by a LLM. You'd need to update the prompt to include something like "current queen". The UK currently has a king as head of the monarchy for all that matters.

am I going mad? They want to "build democracy" around a system that will keep people out of voting. I'm pretty sure that isn't "democracy". Has the definition changed? If not, why the hell are these freaks constantly confused about words?!?

Fucking hell, the football club has finally revealed the new shirt. First - a fucking gambling company as the sponsor?! Fuck off! May as well be sponsored by Sullivan's Sport. Second - it took how long to design that shirt? It really seems like it's someone's last minute project!

Fucking hell, not this bollocks again! It was supposed to be the next big thing back at the start of academies. The plans for the school i was at were wonderful and would have benefitted everyone. That was scrapped when requirements changed and schools could just effectively be privatised.

So a very specific situation. Look, if I leave for a contract and come back to my house no problem. But many cases this isn't the case. Don't know where you're from, or where you've been but I can tell you that round here it's not old Dave renting his old apartment whilst he's off around the world.

Sure, but don't then bitch that people aren't paying your fucking mortgage. If you can't pay your mortgage on one home, don't buy a-fucking-nother. Pretty simple.

I mean, why does she need to up the rent if she's not in it for the money and rent covers the mortgage. Thing is I'd bet what she charges is still excessive, you said one earns 20k. How much is her mortgage?

Genuinely not surprised, it's how I imagine education in the UK is now. Education isn't a place to let little things like care and attention, knowing your students and making them feel human get in the way pumping out facts to be regurgitated in endless exams.
