The provincial election is over and the vote splitting was a huge issue but we know we cannot fix things overnight! The work of Common Ground Ontario and many others is just getting started and so this is not the end; it is just the start of a movement BUT we just need a week or so to rest :)

Hogarth was an explicit anti bike lane candidate, there at the Bloor west announcements to kill them, quite visible. And she lost. Bike lanes are a settled issue in Toronto. In the last mayoral election the anti bike lane candidates lost. www.thestar.com/politics/ele...

Becoming a bit of a recurring theme at this point, as right-coded politicians keep thinking attacking bike lanes is a path to electoral success. Didn’t work in the mayoral by-election either. I’m thinking it’s just generally not a salient issue — even bike skeptics have bigger things to worry about.

Doug Ford’s anti-bike lane Bill 212 was always bad policy, but now also seems like bad politics. PCs handily lost Etobicoke-Lakeshore last night, home of the “controversial” Bloor West lanes. And PC vote share in bordering Etobicoke Centre was basically flat from 2022. What was the point?
