It’s so very true. Though I WISH we used the term to denote an actual genre, it would be more helpful to readers that way. But yeah, folks suggesting that something is a higher art just because it’s bound with glue instead of staples is silly, especially when the content is the same.

Oh, we do not like this. No, we sure don’t. We don’t reify this arbitrary and snooty distinction. Especially since so many so-called “graphic novels” are published as comic books first. Graphic novels and comic books are both comics. 📚

I went to Guelph today for Comics Jam and found @ootslibrary.bsky.social which is a cute little library that uses @librarycat.org as its ILS! Kind of awesome that in Ontario you can just start a nonprofit and open a library, I don’t think that’s allowed in Ohio 📚

The amount of trans people who got this tattoo pre-2019 is staggering. A friend had this Deathly Hallows symbol on his ankle and he was telling me how getting a tattoo is affordable but having one removed is not so much. He’s decided to just keep because of what the books meant to him growing up👇

That first volume is fine for older elementary; no violence, clearly a cute little love story happening, people doing their jobs, and full of info science info. It is rated Teen by the publisher. I suspect that is either due to the reading level of the science pages or because it gets more mature
