In Super Mario Galaxy, Luigi can perform a "Silly Chair Dance" by being fired out of a cannon in a specific way. Unfortunately, the functionality allowing this was removed from the Nintendo Switch versions, so that the dance can only be enjoyed on the Wii.

The year is 2026 and Super Mario Galaxy 2 has received a new storybook chapter! Update 1.4.0 changes the storybook's color to white, adds a new music track "Journey" that plays alongside the new chapter and fixes several issues including the broken bloom, some minor glitches and updates textures.

8 years ago today, on March 22nd, 2018, Super Mario Galaxy was re-released in HD for the first time on the Nvidia Shield exclusively in China. Unfortunately, the online verification servers were shut down on October 8th, 2021, rendering the game unplayable without modifications.

Rosalina has been officially revealed to be a playable character in Super Mario Bros. Wonder - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Meetup in Bellabel Park. Co-Star Luma also makes their first playable return since Super Mario Galaxy 2 as an optional co-op companion.

In both the Wii and Nintendo Switch releases of Super Mario Galaxy 2, returning to the Starship as Luigi will play a transition back to Mario and save the game. Before the game is saved, Mailtoad can be spotted T-posing. In this state, his shadow is also misaligned with his position.

In Super Mario Galaxy 2, it's possible to see inside a Smeech by entering first-person view before it kisses Yoshi. Additionally, a Smeech will remain attached to Yoshi's mouth even after collecting a star.

It's possible to crash both the Wii and Nintendo Switch releases of Super Mario Galaxy 2. By abusing the Infinite Flutter Jump glitch, it's possible to reach the Tall Trunk Galaxy slide with Yoshi. Attempting to enter the slide with Yoshi crashes the game.

It's possible to crash any release of Super Mario Galaxy by doing a specific setup in Loopdeeswoop Galaxy. Launching into the sky with the help of a water slide will kill the player. Attempting to make the Manta Ray jump after it lands back in the water crashes the game.

Here's why this happens! In Gateway Galaxy, the mechanism responsible for pulling Mario back and forth through the crater hole functions via a set of invisible Warp Pads. These are the same Warp Pads that you may be familiar with on the Comet Observatory. A thread...🧵

A glitch may occur in Super Mario Galaxy when played on a Nintendo Switch 2 whereby Mario will get stuck in freefall in the tunnel in Gateway Galaxy. The usual failsafe that would kill Mario for falling too long does not activate here, so Mario will tumble forever and never die.

In Super Mario Galaxy, entering first person view turns Mario into a semi-transparent state where his eye sockets turn white. However, in Super Mario 3D All-Stars, Mario's eyes turn bloodshot, and in the Nintendo Switch release, his eyes are missing.

The Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 Bundle has added support for amiibo. Scanning most amiibo provides the player with 15 Star Bits. Since there's no cooldown for this feature, a player can simply scan amiibo indefinitely for unlimited Star Bits.

Here's a comparison between Bloom effects in all Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2 releases. Specifically playing Super Mario Galaxy 2 at high resolutions on Nintendo Switch 2 causes the Bloom effect to not display correctly.

There's an intricate Glitch that removes the player's checkpoint in Super Mario Galaxy 2 for Nintendo Switch's Throwback Galaxy. After getting the checkpoint at the top of the stage and walking back through the level, dying while fighting the Whomp King in Assist Mode will remove the checkpoint.

In the Super Mario Galaxy games, the staff credits text is always loaded into RAM despite not being needed until the ending. While horribly inefficient, this is inadvertently heartwarming as the games appear to honor their creators by keeping them in memory at all times.
